Explore the Blue Mountains - Your Way!

The Blue Mountains Explorer Bus is the ultimate hop-on hop-off bus tour of the Blue Mountains. With 29 brilliantly located stops across Katoomba and Leura, we give you the freedom to explore this spectacular World Heritage wilderness on Sydney's doorstep - all at your own pace.

The Explorer Bus is more flexible than a day tour, cheaper and less stressful than renting a car, and much more fun than trying to cover all the sights on foot.

Our great-value passes give you unlimited travel all day, making it easy to put together your own perfect day in the Blue Mountains. With buses running every half hour, you'll have plenty of time to hit all the highlights.

We'll drop you at the door of star attractions like Scenic World and the famous Scenic Railway, and give you as long as you like to hang out with our beautiful Three Sisters. Want to stretch your legs on a bushwalk? Simply hop off the Explorer Bus and we'll meet you at the other end!

If you're coming up by train, we pick you up right outside Katoomba Station - and we don't waste any time taking you straight to the big views.

Instead of throwing away 45 minutes of your day walking through town to Echo Point or Scenic World, simply jump on the big red Double Decker bus and we'll get you to the cliff top quicker than you can drink a cup of coffee.

While you relax and soak up the unbeatable views from the top deck, our friendly drivers will entertain you with a running commentary of fascinating local facts and stories.

And at the end of the day, we'll get you back to the train or your hotel with time and energy to spare.

Grab your slice of freedom. Start planning your perfect day in the Blue Mountains now.

Driver very good. Informative and helpful with whatever your needs may be. Great way to see the highlights of the Blue Mountain National Park.

Drivers are knowledgeable and amusing. However, the bus is way overpriced for the amount of time that you might spend on it. We did a lot of walking between the stops, from one view to another. Spent maybe 30 minutes in total on the bus during the day. If you want to do the views only its probably as easy... More

Hi Kinross_silo Thanks for taking the time to write this review. It appears you made the most of your day exploring the Blue Mountains. The Explorer Bus, I dare say, is the reason you were able to do so much walking between stops, because it gets you to all of the walking points fast and then to the next, and... More

Used the Explorer bus on the 06/02/2017. Mixed thoughts. The ups: Very accessible. From the Katoomba station its impossible to miss their shop. The staff at their shop are very informative, friendly and willing to help you. Great work there. If you are travelling alone or in pairs, $44 it is still cheaper than a rental car. They did have... Hi Nilton M Thank you for your review. I'm pleased you found our team to be "informative, friendly and willing to help". I see that you visited in an unusually hot period. We are upgrading our fleet to include air-conditioned buses, and in the meantime, as you discovered, we offer complimentary chilled water on board. It's also pleasing that you... More

The "hop on, hop off" day worked extremely well. The drivers were courteous and informative and, given the bus schedule, we never had to wait more than about 10 minutes for the bus to come back so we could move to another location. Although the morning was foggy, and hindered viewing the scenery, the drivers let us know when to... More

Hi Doug B Thanks for your review. I'm pleased you enjoyed your day. You are absolutely right that our service allows you the freedom to explore at leisure, rather than part of a tour group. It's definitely the best way to see the most in your own time. I hope you will come and see us again. Damien More

Vistited over two very rainy days before Christmas. Was lovely and quiet, not many views but cooler to do the walks and all the waterfalls were full flowing. Super firendly and fun drivers and staff in the shop. So informative, offered brollies. Ended up taking us almost to the door of where we were staying and picked us up the... More

Hi Dave C Thanks for the review. It's so nice that you had such a great time on "two very rainy days". We love the rainy days too. So peaceful and mystical, almost. Our team are fantastic, and it's great that you noticed this. We are always happy to do a little extra, such as loan you a brollie, or... More

It was a very hot day when we took the bus. There isn't any air conditioning or much ventilation on the buses even with the windows open. It was very nice that they provided free water though. We took the basic ticket since we did not want to do the rides at Scenic World. I thought the price was a... More

Hi Diane K Thanks for your review. I see you visited in the middle of a heatwave that was pretty much affecting the whole of Australia, including the Blue Mountains. It is rare that we get extremely hot weather here as we are 1017m above sea level. As a result of the hot weather, we did provide complimentary water on... More

We took the train here from Sydney and thought the hop on bus would be the best option, as we have done a lot of hop on buses in many of the cities we have visited and they have all been excellent value. However, we felt this one was not. The stops are quite close together so you can walk... More

Definitely worth catching a train from Sydney which is a very comfortable two hour ride to the Blue mountains followed by using the Blue Mountains Explorer buses to navigate the area itself. Take a rucksack with water bottles, suntan lotion and sun hats a couple of snacks and your camera, wearing trainers are fine. We also took mosquito spray but... More

The experience you get with this service and whether it is perceived value for money is probably dictated by your desired approach to the Blue Mountains. As a couple looking to get out and about and take on some of the hiking trails (the relative 'basics' of the area but requiring a degree of stamina), we didn't utilise the bus... More

Hi VDV11 It seems as though you didn't use our service to its potential. The "chunky free guide" you mention is actually a step by step guide to allow you to see the most in the Blue Mountains. Unfortunately you chose not to follow it, which is your choice as a customer. I note that in your 44 reviews of... More
