Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This cascading waterfall is a joy to visit, especially after there has been some local rainfall. We were lucky in that it had rained and the volume of water coming down improved the photo opportunities. Moderate walk in from the Leura end via the cliff walk which is through a fantastic protected forest. He walking path is well maintained but can get a little slippery after rain. A great way to spend a couple of hours and enjoy a rest walk in a pristine mountain environment.

The cascade was just average in my opinion. Just a nice photo stop. The walk it was however great with lots of local/ plants and trees to see. Learnt more about these during the walk. Note that certain part could be a bit steep.

We visited Leura Cascade with family last weekend. It is truly a hidden gem in Blue Mountains and in my opinion much better than more "touristy" attractions like Echo points/3 Sisters. You need to go down well signed path (20 minutes easy grade walk with decent steps) and surrounds are serene with lot of birds and flowers you get to see. Cascade falls are very nice and as there is not a huge amount of noise/crowds you get relax and have some to yourself. I really recommend anyone who like easy bush trail and want to get away from crowds than this is the place. Highly recommmended.

While the movement of the water over the rocks was relaxing. The cascades themselves are very small and the amount of moving water was limited. This was not really what we expected.

Normally I would rate Leura Cascades as 5 stars plus but after the heavy rains this place is now off limits and will be for awhile for clean up and recovery
Such a shame to see the devastation that has occurred but also inconceivable that the water actually rose that high
The small park and higher cascades are fenced off with no access due to a land slide and the lower cascades are blocked by fallen trees
The toilets are not open
Large trees had been washed down and parts of the walkway has been washed away the road to Leura Cascades is closed but if you park at the Solitary Restaurant you can walk in via the top car park
Amazing to see but tread carefully no place for children
Check with Blue Mountains Council website for when open again before you go
BUT you can still visit Leura the town it is open and waiting for you to visit

Visitors to the Blue Mountains NSW must visit the Leura Cascades. It is breathtaking especially after raining the night before. The water cascading down the rocks is so refreshing. The look out to the Blue Mountains is WoW factor. It is FOC, something similar in Canada cost you C$25.

This is one of the stops on the explorer bus route so well worth a stop. You walk down alongside the cascading river through a fern lined gully until you reach a point where the waterfall enters the Jameson valley. Very picturesque and peaceful.

Located on Blue Mountains Drive between Katoomba & Leura, this natural watercourse is a serene stop in the somewhat chaotic tourist environment in the Blue Mountains.
Vehicles can drive along sealed roads to numerous parking areas within the location. There are only two entrances/exits so you cannot get lost.
Ample regulated parking is available.
The top of the cascades as well as the lower section are both worth spending time at.
The is no cost for this area.
Recommended.

Leura Cascades is totally worth a visit- easy car parking, picnic areas, decent toilet facilities and some great information on the history of the area. Some great walks...and several waterfalls. My favourite is the reasonably short 20 minute walk that follows along down beside the Cascades- it is just beautiful!
Cool and leafy, the sound of the water running as you walk ,birds and wild flowers.....then you come to a semi enclosed mossy cave facing the Cascades- take some great photos! Then walk around to the lookout over the Jamison Valley-it's worth it. Just remember you're walking down hill - on the way back it's all uphill :)

The start of the walk is difficult to find as the Information board which is located to the left of the toilets is completely blank. You want to head left of the sign and walk down along the stream/Creek. I am not a fan of steps. Loathe them. However, there are times they are worth it for the reward. This is one of them. The scenery is stunning. If you are a photographer you will be in heaven. There are plenty of spots to stop and rest along the way up or down. You really want to walk all the way down, under the cave and look back at all the cascades. Once you’ve taken that in, I really encourage you to continue on to the left to the lookout and then climb 2 more flights of stairs for that lookout. This second lookout was incredible with flocks of cockatoos!!

Hi I was just wondering if The Cascade walk are pet friendly
Written 8 September 2019
Just to be clear, given the wrong advice given in other answers, it is an offence to take dogs, cats and any other domestic pets into any National Park. This necessarily includes the Blue Mountains National Park.
Most walks and tracks in the Blue Mountains are in the National Park, but many are instead within the precinct of the Blue Mountains City Council, and they have different rules.
The line between the BMNP area and the BMCC area is invisible, but a rough rule of thumb is that the BMNP's responsibility begins at the escarpment/cliff edge.
The Leura Cascades picnic area is under BMCC control. Within that confined grassy area, dogs on leash are permitted. But as soon you begin walking down to the Cascades, they are banned.
The BMCC has designated 14 parks as off-leash, with time restrictions in place for each one.
Confused? Look for the signage at the beginning of any track. If its a blue BMCC sign it will state whether dogs on leash are permitted or not. If there is no signage, assume its NPWS and dogs are banned.
