Located at the top of a hill of the caravan park, the gaol provides a lovely view of the entire area, plus some information for history buffs.
If you have enough time in the park, a 30-minute visit is all you need here.

You would catch a train from Central (Sydney) to Kempsey. It is over 7 hours trip, and cots between $60 - $80. Then you would have to get a taxi or a bus to South West Rocks (about 30 minutes), then you would have to get to Trial Bay - about 5 kms.
I do not think you would plan to do a visit to Trial Bay Gaol unless you have a car, and are in the North Coast of New South Wales. It is too far from Sydney.
