The surging power of the Southern Ocean is evident at The Gap, a spectacular channel in the 40 metre high coastal granites of Torndirrup National Park. Lookouts at both the Gap and natural Bridge provide outstanding views of the Southern Ocean and the coast from Bald Head to West Cape Howe. Visitors to the Gap can venture onto a universally accessible new viewing platform 40 metres directly above the surging seas in all but the worst weather conditions. From the gentle and mesmerising heaving of calm seas to the buffeting rush of wind and spray of winter storms the experience changes from day to day. A raised pathway leads from the car-park and picnic area across the top of the exposed granite ramparts to reach the viewing platform at the Gap. The pathway gives safe access to the best views while protecting vulnerable plants and lichens on the rock surface from trampling.

Lookouts at both the Gap and Natural Bridge provide outstanding views of the Southern Ocean and the coast from Bald Head to West Cape Howe. They have built walkways to make your walk easier. The current and waves are very strong, pls keep to the safe areas.

The gap and natural bridge is a beautiful spot and definitely worth a visit too! The bridge build allows you to stand right over the gap and watch the waves crash onto the rocks below! The natural bridge is amazing. An excellent spot for keen photographers! $12 entry fee.

There was no warning but when we arrived the bridge was closed for repair works. Car parking is $12 but someone advised no one was currently paying due to the bridge closure - so a saving there! The Gap was still accessible and views were stunning as the Southern Ocean Waves hit land for the first time - the spray... More

We visited the gap and natural bridge today (14th March) and were literally blown away, both metaphorically and literally, although sunny it was blowing a hoolie and then some... The gap was spectacular from the overhanging viewing platform - but we had just paid the $12 fee (very few people were doing so) when the access to the gap was... More

The south west is such a beautiful part of Australia with so many different natural sights to explore. This is one of our favourites in Albany.

This hadn't been built the last visit we had to the Great Southern region but my goodness it was worth the trip this time. Very informative about the build itself and about the surrounding areas. The 'Gap' was incredible being able to witness the fierceness of the ocean and the mighty power of the waves up close was a real... More

What a fabulous place. Spoiled somewhat worried that those deciding to climb on the rocks would fall. One person did. Only a foot or so down the rocks but please people read the safety signs. They are there for a reason. Stick to the paths too. Snakes are around.

Always been a popular place but with the new walkway and observation deck access is so much easier and safer. Good access if your in a wheel chair. $12 per car fee is now payable

They have obviously spent a lot of money making this beautiful natural spectacle accessible to all and they have done a very good job. I think the 12 dollar car park fee was a bit high for somewhere that you could only really spend an hour but the work they have done on the viewing platform and paths cant have... More

We live around the corner so are very lucky. We have seen this beautiful place in the sunshine and the torrential rain, and the rain was amazing, but if you don't like being drenched in salt water, stick to the sunny day.
