Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only went to see it to climb the tree as I hate heights . Make sure you have good closed in shoes if you intend to climb the tree . There is a national park fee of $15 per car or you can display your annual park pass on the dash . If you are a thrill seeker you will love this climb . Wonderful surroundings.

Less popular and known, and therefore quieter climbable tree in Pemberton. It is further out of town closer to the cascades in Pemberton. It is found off an unsealed section of the Old Vasse Road. The day I travelled to the bicentennial tree was after storms in the south west. The gravel road was like mud and very slippery. It is between 10 - 20km drive along the gravel/clay road. It is very slippery after rain. The car definitely need the mud cleaned from underneath the car and paintwork after the visit. Also as lots of large trees in the area, it was dangerous for fallen branches. One almost completely blocked the road to the carpark to get to the bicentennial tree. It does have a shelter and picnic table and bushwalking trails. Being it is off a gravel unsealed road west of the Pemberton townsite it was quieter and easier to climb as less people to compete with going up and down the tree.

Last year climbed diamond tree a month before it closed due to safety reason. So whilst away down south I knew I had to climb the two remaining fire lookout trees . Gloucester tree and the Dave Evans bicentennial tree. Amazing tree to climb but definitely not for the faint hearted . There are large gaps between pegs so be mindful.
Climb before they are closed to the public!

Loved the experience of climbing this amazing tree. I’m grateful that people are still allowed to do so. The tree is majestic and standing up amongst its highest branches and looking at the top of the Forrest canopy and surrounds was an exhilarating privilege.
Do it if you can. And appreciate how lucky you are!

Fun climb. Lovely weather when I went. A little like climbing a ladder. The metal steps were not slippery. The Gloucester Tree was closed for maintenance earlier this month so I was glad the Dave Evans Tree was open.

Accessed as part of the Kari Forest Explorer Trail: we arrived here having driven the unsealed road through Warren NP which was quite spectacular in itself. The tree and environs are impressive: great birdlife. Climb ing the tree appears to be somewhat daunting.

Perfect weather and had it all to myself as my partner didn't climb. Would not like to climb if there were others to negotiate past. Fantastic to see there are still things to do that require comon sense and a bit of thinking. Bit sketchy but fun!

I've done some scary things before including the world's biggest bungee and skydiving but this was more frightening, probably for the simple fact that your safety is in your own hands. Slip and you're a gonna. The flimsy chicken wire to your side won't save you.
You climb this Goliath 75m tree (the biggest climbing tree in oz) via successive metal spokes. There's a platform half way that reminds you that that was the easy bit.
When you do get to the top you're rewarded with stunning views of the southern forests and the distant south coast dunes so take a camera.
Then to get down... you have to go backwards.
How there have never been any casualties I'll never know!

This is the tallest lookout tree in the world! The tree is a fantastic site and provides a challenge for the fit and brave hearted to climb. Well worth a visit to combine with the Gloucester tree

Great view, picturesque not for the light hearted.
Cannot take backpacks up as they can easily get caught in the safety netting, Would recommend wearing outdoor gear with decent shoes!

Hi all, may I know does this activity closed during winter/rainy season?
Thanks!!

It was open when we were there in July-however, I wouldn't climb it if it was wet or windy. You wouldn't want to slip. It's a long way to fall!

Hi, what is the temperature like in late Dec/early Jan at the forest? Is it bearable with all the tree covering?
Written 7 May 2015
The daytime temp in January can be from 30 to 40 degrees.
Hard to say. The attractions in the area are all basically centred around the forests.
Lovely area.
