- WorldTravla7Cairns, Australia8,604 contributionsAlexandria Bay walkI did the 4.2km return walk to Alexandria Bay starting from Sunshine Beach end (Parkedge Rd). Usually I start walks from Noosa end and wanted to try one of the southern trails this time. I set off late one Sunday afternoon and it was a perfect time (not too many people, cool and breezy). The beach and coastal panorama is gorgeous and there were no naked swimmers with their bits out on this occasion (this is known as a nude beach!). Choose your shoes carefully as the walk is mostly sand & takes you through open eucalypt woodland and heathland to Alexandria Bay. There are some interesting native plants to see on the way including coastal banksia/native bottlebrush & no walk is complete without seeing the omnipresent scrub turkey!Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 October 2023
- millieharrison1Huddersfield, United Kingdom10 contributionsLovely walkThe walk is so pretty, you see so many beaches that are quiet. We started near our hostel and ended on Main beach which was a great way to cool down. Took around 3 hours, make sure you take plenty of water and suncream as there isn’t much shade. The route does get very busy so be prepared for a lot of stopping to let people past. Would definitely go on this walk again and hopefully stop at more beaches.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 October 2023
- JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,963 contributionsNice antidote to Hastings StreetThe Noosa National Park is only about a km from Hastings St, reached via a raised boardwalk that offers a tantalising coastal and forest views. It is the perfect antidote to the full-on commercial experience that Hastings St offers. There are numerous tracks to follow once you're in the NP, with our favourite being the coastal track that takes you past several beaches to Granite Bay and beyond. The path is fairly narrow and can be busy with walkers but the mood is friendly and people are generally very considerate of others walking at different speeds etc. And with luck you might even spot a koala high up in a gum tree - have done so on previous walks but not this time.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 November 2023
- ArvindBrisbane, Australia267 contributionsWalking exercise with a view of noosaIf you love walking this is a highly recommended experience with ocean views. There are easy 1.1 km trail, harder 2.4km trail, 3.2km one way and a 10.8 kilometres return four hard trail. We loved it.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 December 2023
- AlannaZCambridge, New Zealand116 contributionsBeautiful hiking experiences despite being quite popular.Beautiful hiking, amazing views, full of wildlife. A nice mix between forests, coastal cliff walks, beaches, and hill tops. Lots of wildlife to see despite being quite busy. Some parts were hilly and some exposed roots and loose gravel but paths were easy to follow and not strenuous. We did the Alexandria Bay walk to Sunshine Beach; and the Tanglewood walk to Hell’s Gate and then back along the Coastal Walk. Amazing day!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 June 2024

We’ve walked this path many times over 35 years. To First Point, Little Cove, Shark Bay, and all the way to Hell’s Gate. We’ve seen koalas and even a python devouring a mouse! The recent improvements are great - metal railings and fences above the ageing timber. Indigenous signage and terms is terrific. Wonderful views. Highly recommended.

Not sure who was the genius to include a nudist beach as part of a major family attraction like this. If you have kids then I strongly recommend to check where the nudist beach is unless you do not mind your child being surrounded by old men showing their private parts. Someone at the Noosa council should be fired for this. The inconsideration to the visitors is mind blowing!

My friend and I did the boardwalk on our first day in Noosa. Our accommodation provided us with a basic map which was helpful but it's a really straightforward walk and easily signposted. You pass so many beautiful beaches along the way. We didn't have time to stop and really enjoy any of the beaches on this occasion but I took lots of scenic photographs of the beaches we passed. We didn't see any koalas along the way despite really trying our best to spot some. However, we had already seen wild koalas during our tour on the Great Ocean Road earlier on in our trip so weren't overly disappointed by this, it just would have been a bonus. We were fortunate enough to see dolphins however at Dolphin Point which I was very happy about (managed to take a video of them). We walked as far as Hell's Gates before we decided to walk back and get some food. It was sunset on our way back and I managed to take some stunning sunset photos over the beach/sea. This walk is a must do if you are in Noosa. Next time I'm in Noosa I think I would spend a whole day walking and stopping off at different beaches, and I would also remember the 'Fairy Pools' as I had totally forgotten about these when we did our walk.

How wonderful to have a National Park so close to Noosa township. Well laid out walking trails. We opted for part of the coast walk and then back via the tangle wood trail, through the rainforest section. I can recommend this as the coastal walk heats up and there is little escape from the sun, while the Tangle wood section provides the cool and shade of the forest. The only negative of this experience is parking is a nightmare, probably best to get to Noosa and do the extra kilometres up the boardwalk to National Park enterance

I have been to Noosa many times and never visited the National Park before. We drove and parked in the National Park car park just past Little Cove which was busy but okay and found a park( mid week , non schoolies and outside of school hols ) . Decided after reading the Information Board to walk to Boiling Point and a eventually a little beyond . I was with my sister in law and my 88 year old Mum who managed the walk well ( even though it’s slightly uphill to Boiling Point) and it’s so so beautiful I would highly recommend it to anyone who is able or willing to try. There were plenty of people walking the trail but not too many and the beach which is the next stop past Boiling Point looks so pretty.
I will definitely do this walk again and go a bit further next time . Take water and anything else you need as past the car park area there are no shops .
Take the walk it’s STUNNING !

We wanted to walk here in the middle of the day - not a chance of finding a park. We went back at about 4pm and found a park, someone leaving. This was serendipitous because the late afternoon light was just beautiful and made the scenery even more beautiful. Definitely the best thing we found in Noosa.

We would have loved to do the walks in this national park but couldn’t even get near it because of all the surfers parked in the car park. We tried to come on two separate days and ended up just sitting in traffic on both occasions.
Perhaps a system needs to be put in place where some of the bays are reserved for national park visitors?
The town of Noosa missed out on our business because of the congestion this causes and frustration that we could access a public attraction.

Great trail walk along the water. If you are ambitious you can walk from the Hastings street trail head to sunset beach. About 10km. There are lookout points all along the way but at least try to get to hell’s gate which is about 4 km. Great view from there.

We only walked part of the coastal pathway having had to park a great distance away on a busy Sunday afternoon.
Lots of ups and downs and a very limited number of places to sit and rest. Lots to see, especially the birds hiding in the trees and countless butterflies, great views of Noosa, and the pathway surface is flat and even.
I am sure others have commented on the total distance around the headland and we managed about a 1/3rd and that was enough after a very good lunch.
As with all coastal walks in the heat you need good shoes, plenty of water, hats and sunglasses......and a camera. Just take your time and remember it will still be there tomorrow to enjoy. Its not an endurance test.

Incredible place. Natural paradise. You can’t miss out if you are in the sunny coast. There are trails all over the national park,I recommend walking through all the park till sunrise beach and the caves. Fairy pools are an amazing place in early morning when there are nit too many people around for a peaceful swim in clear water. It is also a cool diving spot. The scenery is unbelievable. It is often very crowded so I recommend going there in the surly morning so that you’ll enjoy the most of it. Also if you are into surfing there are some cool waves breaks!!

Which is the hardest part of the coastal walk?

I walk with a walker ,l so love nature, birds, trees ,sunsets , could you please recommend lovely nature spots around Noosa that are accessible

YOU can walk from Noosa, all the way to the National Park, but this first part is on a Boardwalk and is not completely smooth, has steepish parts to it. It can be used by walkers or wheelchairs and prams. From the start of the National Park, there is a sealed Path for more than 1 km around the shoreline. That path has been created for wheelchair access, so has NO STEPS

Hola!!
Gracias, Naty

Hi Naty, there is no entrance fee for the national park. Noosa Caravan Park is 143 Moorindil St, Tewantin QLD 4565, Australia - that is 10 km away from the entrance of the park. Have a save trip, Michael

Hi we have a three month old and are up for a walk in a baby carrier. How hard is the walk all the way to Hell's gate? Also how hard it it to get parking and is there any cafe nearby?
Written 12 November 2018
The walk is fairly easy all the way to Hell's Gate but unfortunately, parking was a nightmare when we visited which was the week before school holidays started. You need to get in really early to get a park! There is a cafe at the beginning of the walk as well as toilets. I'm not sure how good the cafe is as we only bought ice-creams after we completed the walk (with a 3 and 5 year old).

Is there a time limit for parking in the car park at noosa national park? Is the track kid friendly to the fairy pools? Or another place (ie. sunshine beach) to park at that is closer walking distance to the fairy pools?
Written 17 February 2018
No Time limit, but limited space.
You have to get there early or you need to walk all the way from Noosa.

Does anybody know about Noosa National park opening hours? or it can be accessed at anytime? TKS!
Written 10 January 2018
National Parks are open 24 / 7 there were no gates at the entrance - it is free to go in and you can visit anytime - parking is at a premium so very early am and late pm and when there is no surf (popular surfing spots at the entrance and at one of the beaches) might be better

Hello,
In which part of Noosa National Park would we be most likely to see koalas? We will probably not have a car and would be arriving by bus/foot and would like to know which entry point and/or trail would give us the best opportunities for koala spotting.
Thank you very much.
Valerie

"The trees" is the obvious answer, but they are hard things to spot.
If its specifically Koalas and you are in Brisbane as part of your trip, look into Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Really exceptional for the little guys, and if you don't have a car you can get there by boat from town which is a cool thing on its own.

Staying at Noosa North Shore Campsite - what's the best way to get to Noosa National Park?
We'll have our hired RV.
Written 23 August 2017
Unsure where North Shore van park is but you need to drive to Noosa Heads, then turn right onto Hastings St, the street just behind Noosa beach. Follow this road south along the coast about a Km or 2, until you reach a large carpark at the end of the road. You are now at the National Park.

Could you go here is you are in a manual wheelchair? I can do a few stepa but would love to do these walks with my kids
Written 15 January 2017
I think you can do the first part from Noosa - the national park website should be able to answer more in depth for you
