Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This grand Art Deco theatre is an incredible place to enjoy a live performance. Large enough of a decent size audience but not so large that you don’t feel like you are part of the show. Great acoustics and a nice snack bar. Overall a great night out.

A beautifully set up old cinema with the original features maintained. Really impressed (only downside I would say is while the seats were comfortable, there really isn’t much legroom (think airplane space!) so if you are tall like my husband and there for a while, it can be a struggle (plus if you get there later and have to sit in the middle, it’s not an easy feat to get to your seat!
Aside from that, we really enjoyed the Die Hard Christmas session, complete with a show band that played for around 40 minutes prior to the show. It was a fantastic addition to the movie and really helped set off the old world feel! At $45 a ticket, which included the show, movie and a Christmas cocktail.. great value!
Note - there is a candy bar section downstairs and a bar on site so you can stock up on whatever you wish to have.

A true "picture palace" harking back to the glory days of the 1930s.
Not perhaps the most comfortable or best-equipped of cinemas, but shows a great variety of films, on a range of (is it 7 or 8?) "screens" – the largest and grandest of which is equipped with a genuine, working Wurlitzer organ.
Great special events include filmed plays from London's National Theatre, opera from New York's Met, and special live big-band (the Mellotones) performances followed by a classic musical on occasional Sundays.
My only serious criticism: drink prices at the bar are a tad high.

Cremone Orpheum has an extremely strict no refund or swap ticket policy. I bought a ticket for a November show and wanted to swap for a session at the end of September but the Duty manager refused multiple times. They have a strict no refunds or swap policy they do not refund or swap tickets under any circumstances even on compassionate grounds. My emails were met with a flat no to swap requests this was very bad customer service from management.

Magnificent venue with many fabulous cinemas in which to view great , and the latest films.
Upstairs an efficient bar serving drinks; milk bar downstairs.
Wonderful example of Art Deco in Cinema 4 - seeing a Preview of Military Wives - a film worth seeing.
Great facilities.

Don’t buy tickets 3 weeks early for a session at this cinema. I asked for a refund on compassionate grounds as a family member passed away and my son and I couldn’t go. Took 2 days for a response then duty manager Simon said no and had to even send me a photo of the ‘terms and conditions’ section to say non refundable. Thanks you Simon. How insulting.

Great old-fashioned art-deco cinema. Fantastic experience
We need to support these old style cinemas - please go and see a film if you are in the area. If you want a meal beforehand, I'd recommend Radio Cairo opposite (but you'll need to book)

I attended a movie earlier this year at HOPP, and was blown away at the beautiful interiors, and old school atmosphere. The cinemas themselves were excellent, food selection great, staff lovely, and lively atmosphere of the place wonderful. I don’t live in Sydney, but I wouldn’t hesitate to visit HOPP again, when next in Sydney.

Thanks to the great vision and passion of mid day star Mike Walsh we have this fantastic cinema restored and preserved. A beautiful experience and lovely place to see a movie, you'll spend more time admiring the decor than watching the movie.

This is a lovely old cinema. The seats are comfy and the picture quality and sound all good. The price is pretty high but I suppose most movies have a ticket fee above $24 person these days
