    Really Good
I remember going here myself as a kid and always wanted to take my own children so we made the trip yesterday though regretful due to the weather. The museum was brilliant though. Lots to see and do. I do remember going myself as a child and there were aircrafts open to have a look around in and for kids to explore however sadly these appear to now have been taped off and closed up which is a real shame as the kids would have loved it. Museum has lots to see and do with a large amount of different RAF aircraft and vehicles to see. The cafe has a good variety of food and drink though some is a little on the expensive side but when you think about the museum being free its not that bad. I walked up from the train station at cosford which was brilliant on the way there seeing all the shooting ranges etc. It would be even better if there was a bus link to get from the museum to the station though as we got drenched on the way back which left the kids cold. Definitely worth a visit! But definitely recommend to the museum management to bring back some of the old open displays for the kids to explore. That would be amazing!

    Well worth the visit
Nice museum, lots of interesting aircraft. Staff clearly passionate about what they do and what the museum stands for, which was really great to see. Great for family, couples or solo. Car park was a flat £6.50, but when the museum's free and you've got so much there it's worth it to keep these places going.

A fantastic place for all ages
I visited here recently for a work related event and it was the first time I had visited for about 17 years. It was far better than I ever remembered. It was fantastic just to be able to walk around and see all the different types of aircraft and their history. There was also a lot of interactive stuff to do including 4d experiences, simulators and planes that you are able to sit in. There is also a good sized playground out the front which the kids loved. You can easily spend a good few hours here. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent museum if you like planes.
Very big museum of aircraft and the history of the RAF. I have to admit that after a while I started to lose the will to live a little, but that is mainly because I can only see so many planes before I glaze over. The kids had also started whinging a little by the third hangar! However, a great museum and amazingly it was free admission The parking cost £6.50 but when you consider you don't have to pay to get in then it seems reasonable... not really sure why people complain about that to be honest!

    Education day out
Great , interesting, educational place. it’s massive and lots too see. Really heaven for those passionate about aerospace and not only. Good parking £6.5 for all day . Nice for lunch or coffee as well. Sausage roll £5.5, coffee £3.5 , but entrance is free. I wish it was more interactive and with more opportunities to go inside the planes . The only plane kids good have a picture in the cockpit was not available. It was disappointing

    Excellent museum
So many planes to see. Well worth a visit and a donation as entry is free. My son is plane mad and loved it. As entry was free we did pay for some of the 'experiences' - 4D Red Arrows, Tornado simulator, VR Spitfire ride and VR paradrop. They added up but very enjoyable. Good 3-4 hours to visit.

We travelled over from Belfast as my son is an avid aircraft follower. We certainly were not disappointed, there was a vintage fair on the weekend we travelled and there was so many aircraft to view and read about. There was even a flypast by a spitfire. Fantastic for all the family, food amd refreshments available and the staff are all extremely helpful. Many thanks

    Brilliant
Partner and I visited when in area. This museum is amazing so many aircraft to see and information , the staff and volunteers very knowledgable. I am not into aircraft at all but thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a free museum and I am sure that even if admission charge was put in place people would still visit. Parking fee is £6,50.

Guided tour of RAF Cosford Museu
As part of the day we had a private tour of over an hour with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide named Paul. He provided us with insights about people and missions that would be hard to get elsewhere. He even gave us copies of his own handouts. A thoroughly enjoyable day with breaks for refreshments from the excellent cafe. All day parking is £7.50 and while entrance is free you are encouraged to make a donation. Its well worth it!

We have visited the museum many times in the past but this is the first time in over a year. We were pleased to see the new layout of aircraft in the Test flight and War in the Air hangers. It is clear that someone has put some thought into how the aircraft are spaced to allow enthusiasts to see around the whole aircraft. We were particularly impressed with the restoration work done on the Wellington and how the interior has been lit for a clear view through the aircraft. It was a sad moment to see the removal of the model aircraft room including the airfield diorama. I understand this was an old exhibit - Oldie but a Goodie!

Hi, thank you for your valued feedback. We're delighted that as a regular visitor you enjoyed the revamped layout of our aircraft displays, designed to enhance enthusiasts' viewing experience. The meticulous restoration of the Wellington and its illuminated interior aim to offer visitors a clear insight into its historical significance and we're glad to hear that this work struck a positive chord with you. We acknowledge your sentiment regarding the removal of the model aircraft room and airfield diorama, which held nostalgic value. Your understanding of the need for evolution while cherishing cherished exhibits is greatly appreciated, and we did not take this decision lightly. We look forward to welcoming you back to further explore our exhibits and to see the other changes that we have planned to improve our customer experience even further.

RAF Cosford is a wonderful airy, spacious place to visit, as everything is so well laid out and the staff and volunteers are fantastic in answering questions and being helpful.

So many planes and so many stories, interesting exhibitions, cafe with lots of variety and seating space, and clean facilities. The children loved the play area.

Special thanks to Garry for the RAF crafting session which was brilliant and his able helper volunteer Pete.

We had a great day and look forward to a return visit. Thank you.

We visited with our two grandchildren and had a great time. The youngest spent most of the time in the play area; couldn’t get him away. The eldest loves aeroplanes and was investigating all of the aircraft particularly the types his great grandfather flew in. He is in the Air Cadets so a special thank you to volunteer Jim who took time to speak to him about the RAF.

Some hangers, such as the Cold War hanger with a fantastic observation deck, are extremely interesting however others could do with a some updating; includinga further variety of aircraft. I believe they’re planning to refurbish one of their hangers in the coming years. Avoid the VR experiences; they’re extortionately prices but are a poor quality. The volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. Although it may be difficult to install, further lifted observation decks would enhance the ability to explore the rich history on display at Cosford.

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us on TripAdvisor. We're thrilled to hear that you found some of our hangars, particularly the Cold War hangar with its fantastic observation deck, to be extremely interesting. Your appreciation means a lot to us! We completely understand your perspective regarding the need for updates and a greater variety of aircraft in certain areas. Rest assured, we are constantly striving to enhance our offerings and provide a more enriching experience for our visitors. In fact, we are excited to share our plans to refurbish one of our hangars in the coming years, which will undoubtedly bring fresh excitement and diversity to our collection. These can be found on our website under the section called RAF Museum Midlands Development Programme. We truly appreciate your candid feedback regarding our VR experiences. We are continuously working to improve and innovate. We recently introduced our thrilling Dam Busters experience, where visitors can immerse themselves in this historic raid, flying in the Lancaster piloted by Guy Gibson as they watch the action unfold below them. It's heartening to hear your praise for our volunteers. Their passion and knowledge are invaluable to us, and we will certainly pass on your kind words to them. Your suggestion about lifted observation decks is excellent, and while it may present challenges, we always explore ways to enhance the accessibility and enjoyment of discovering the rich history displayed at Cosford. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future to experience the exciting updates and improvements we have in store.

Really enjoyed visiting this museum. Unlike its sister at Hendon in London, the focus remains on the RAF's history, rather than becoming a big theme park for families with young children. The Cold War exhibition is amazing. This is how a major museum on the RAF should be.

My son went to visit the museum on a class trip and asked us to take him because he enjoyed it so much.

We were absolutely blown away! The museum is huge and there is so much to see and learn. We stayed for 2h (and then the museum closed) but we could have easily spent 4-5h exploring!

We will definitely be back!

Had a fantastic experience at RAF Cosford Air Museum. Special mention to Jane, a delightful and knowledgeable staff member, who shared insights about the V2 bomber and engaged in fascinating discussions about world affairs and history. Our nice conversation extended to brief chat about her daughter! The entire staff were wonderful, and the exhibits were brilliant. We ended up in the second hangar where my daughter and I sat in the cockpit of a Mcdonells Douglas Phantom. Again, special mention to the gentleman who helped us here and spoke to us about the plane. I’m sure moments like this ignite my daughter’s interest! Haven’t visited the museum in a few years and great to see lots of change since our last visit, evidencing they care about visitor experiences and donations are well used. Looking forward to visiting again!

This is the sister museum to the RAF museum in Hendon and is just as worth visiting. In fact it's best to treat them both like one large museum separated by many miles. Both have aircraft that you won't see anywhere else. Cosford is the only place in the world where you can see all three of the V-Bombers intact as they have the only intact Vickers Valliant in the world. These are located in the excellent Cold War Exhibition building. Before you reach this, there are two other hangers full of aircraft plus several more outdoors.

There is also a fourth hanger after the cold war exhibition with even more aircraft including one of the only Chinooks on display in a museum anywhere.

The visitor centre you first go in on arrival also features a small restaurant/cafe. On my first visit I had an excellent fish and chips here. On this visit they had no hot food due to staff issues but usually it's excellent.

Also on site is the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre. This is where aircraft on site are restored and maintained. Usually there is no public access but on this occasion I had booked for a tour. This was extremely interesting and if you get the chance I would recommend doing one yourself.

My only negative with the museum is the large amount of aircraft currently outdoors. For the smaller ones I was informed that this is a temporary storage issues but the larger aircraft are outdoors all the time. This is unfortunate as some look very neglected. It would be a massive improvement to the museum if something could be built to house all the outdoor exhibits as several are rare and we don't want to lose them from our nations heritage.

Other than this one issue, it's a brilliant museum especially when you consider there is no entry fee and you only have to pay for parking.

It's a brilliant place to visit and if you have any interest in the RAF and/or aviation I would recommend visiting asap. If possible visit both here and Hendon for the full experience.
