These limestone caves have developed over 25 million years, building up a host of stalactites, stalagmites and limestone tapestries of an incomparable richness. The Lastournelle Cave was discovered in 1878 when a well was drilled. Farmers living on that property dug down in an attempt to find a water source . They didn't find water, but instead discovered the cave. 45 minutes guided tour of the caves allowing you to explore this spectacular underground world The caves are divided into 7 rooms : Well Room Ratopenado Room Column room Round room Marboutin room Statue room Spring room The tour follows the natural formation of the caves and is easily accessible. However, wheelchair access is not currently possible. April, May, June, September daily tour 2.30 PM, 3.30 PM and 4.30 PM July and August open to 10 AM to 6 PM

The caves are in a lovely rural setting. The entry fee is very reasonable. True, the style is a bit rustic and the caves are not huge but it still takes 45 mins to tour, there are some beautiful and impressive formations and the guide...More

Interesting place to visit though as the other reviews state it is quite a low-key operation. Our guide didn't speak English but that didn't really matter as it was fine just wandering along and explaining to our three and five year old as we went....More

We were very happy to read you enjoyed the lamplight visit - an original way of exploring the underground caves which provides an element of adventure which works especially well for children. We are very fortunate to be able to provide a visit in cave...More

Charmingly bizarre French attraction, only cave I have seen with a replica of the French space rocket Arianne outside! Slightly makeshift feel to the place but quite charming. Have to say one of the smaller caves I have been to in France but the guide...More

This visit was a very pleasant surprise. Much better than we expected given the fact that it is a very 'low key' attraction. Our guide spoke good English and we were shown around in a very small group of 4 adults and 2 children which...More

Whilst these aren't the most extensive, or "high-tech" (for want of a better phrase) caves, they are still a very interesting way to spend a morning/afternoon in the area. We were very impressed by our guide - they have no prior warning of what nationalities...More

We visited the caves and would recommend this, but don't think too much of it. You make a tour with a guide, ours unfortunately only did this in French, so half the group had trouble understanding. The caves are cool / cold which is nice...More
