About
The history of the Roger-Constant Lemaire Estate dates back to the late 19th century to the village of Hautvillers, the cradle of champagne. Our family has continued to build on the know-how of our ancestors, producing atypical champagnes: the Estate does not employ malolactic fermentation or fining methods, nor do we filter the champagne. The family specialises in creating champagnes with an exceptionally fresh palate, characterised by authenticity and the distinctive flavour of the local terroir. Our vineyard lies at the heart of the Champagne region, in the Marne Valley. Our passion for vines and wine forms the very essence of the cuvees we produce. Environmental protection, use of seaweed fertiliser on the land, traditional winemaking practices combined with modern production techniques... these are the elements that have forged the image and the reputation of our champagnes throughout the world.

    Champagne Tasting at Lemaire
4 of us did a private champagne tasting tour through France Intense. Pierre Baudoin was our private guide. Our first stop was Lemaire. Lemaire is a small champagne house with enthusiastic and proud champagne producers. We had a tour of the beautiful property and champagne cellars then tasted the most vibrant and delicious champagne we had ever had. To be able to sit and savor this amazing champagne in the region where the grapes are grown was the experience of a lifetime.

    Amazing guide and experience
We went for the wine tour and tasting experience while staying in the Champagne region on holiday. We booked it fairly last minute but so happy we did. Mathilde was absolutely fantastic as both guide and expert. Incredibly friendly, funny and warm, she is also passionate about her work. She kept it interesting the whole way through and answered the group’s questions with genuine pleasure. For how much you pay you get an experience that is incredible value and unforgettable. If we ever come back we’ll be sure to stop by again.

    Delicious wines, good conversations
Went on a Monday as part of a day trip out of Paris. We sat in their very comfortable living-room style tasting room and the owner came over and we talked and he helped translate between us and his dad. The Champagne house has been in their family for 5 generations, since the mid 1800's i think. Above the welcoming environment, the wines were great. We ordered some to be shipped home and can't wait to taste them, once they arrive.

We had such a wonderful tour and tasting at this small family-owned champagne vineyard. What a great experience! The owner was so enthusiastic about making champagne. I learned a lot and we loved the champagne! Just about everyone in our group placed orders. It was a really fun thing to do in France! I recommend it!

This was the most amazing organic winery. It is a family owned winery and they will TREAT you like family. I would recommend anyone coming to Épernay or Reims to come here. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We love Stefan he gave us a good laugh and was very passionate about the wine. Don’t miss out!

We really enjoyed our visit to this small, family owned champagne house. One of the owners happily took us through their process during our short walk through the production area. This is a family who is passionate about champagne and it shows. On the walls hang several prestigious awards.

Back in the tasting room we enjoyed five different pours…..and loved them. We especially loved the owner’s stories.

A perfect day in the region would of course include a visit to a big brand house, but would not be complete without one to a small, family owned house. This one would be one to include on your list!

Really interesting champagnes and lovely hosts. Thank you Stephane for the great explanations and your hospitality! Definitely recommend coming here. We originally had a tour booked but were unable to get there in time because of car trouble. When that was resolved we decided to come here anyway for the tasting and it made our thus far terrible day a million times better. We had a blast learning about the different champagnes and ended up taking a case home. Merci beaucoup!

This is a must stop on your way to Epernay or Reims for a day of champagne tasting & exploring. Highly recommend their champagne. It is also a great comparison to the more corporate options that you will find on the Avenue of Champagne. Stephan was a cordial host and took great pride & showed his passion for the differences that they display in their process which results in a wonderful lineup of champagnes. Enjoyed our time that we spent with him on tour & during our tasting.

There are so many producers in this region, so choosing where to visit is daunting. I would highly recommend the Lemaire house and it's amazingly fresh and natural champagnes.
Our tour guide was Sebastien, and he and his family greeted us warmly. He is so very enthusiastic about the quality and process they used to produce exceptional champagne at a reasonable price. He was gracious enough to spend a long time talking with us, explaining the natural process of producing quality champagne, and we left knowing that we had made new friends. We also left with some exceptional champagne. Thank you Sebastien!

We were greeted by Sebastian and given a great tour of the facilities and explanation of the grapes, the press house and the winemaking. Gilles and Brigitte made us part of the family and provided a great history lesson on the region explained the terrain and how it impacts the grape. Their family-run business focuses on quality over quantity, but the quality can be smelled and tasted! We stayed at La Loge de Vigne (a great B&B) in the village, which kept us close to the family and the winery. We are so happy our friend steered us this way and we will certainly send all our friends to see the Lemaire's! Just Fabulous.
