Apparently this Buddhist Temple is supposed to be an exact replica of the one in Yangon (which we have also visited) . It certainly is similar, but just the building itself as the one in Yangon has lots of little buildings around it. It is certainly interesting to visit but there was not a Buddhist in sight, even the guy manning the desk as you enter. Many locals from Medan and Jakarta visit the place but many take the opportunity of wearing Korean, Japanese or other national dresses. There are many stalls offering these clothes for a modest amount. There is a well maintained garden around the building with many flowers and plants.

Lumbini Natural Park (id: "Taman Alam Lumbini") is located at Berastagi, North Sumatra; website http://www.tamanalamlumbini.org.

At this place we can see two things Buddhist temple (with its tall pagoda) and the park.

The temple and park did not advertise them self nor taking entrance fee from people, but the place is really taken care by the temple management as it seem. However you can donate your money to the box inside the temple.

Everyone is welcome to enter the temple to pray or just taking photograph.

The pagoda it self is a replica of the golden temple of Shwedagon (Myanmar); however it is not as big as the original.

The park beside the temple is look nice (man made) and further walk away across the bridge you can walk down to the natural forest. I just regret that I don't have time to explore it.

in short, the golden pagoda, the park and the fresh cool air in Berastagi is a good combination for enjoyable short visit (1-3 hours).

A very nice temple with lots of space inside. Not the best of roads from the main road. If going to Berastagi this is worth a visit as it is on the way.

Not many people knows this place, located in Brastagi, North Sumatera. It's free to get in this place and there are some rules that need to be obeyed such as do not eat & drink inside this place, no smoking.

I visited 1st time to Medan,Indonesia.
That's while my local friends would like to show Taman Alam Lumbini.Wow! It's amazing place in Sumatra island.I was very surprise.I saw brillent golden buddhist temple with Myanmar(Burmese) style.Surrounding is very clean and safe for pilgrims.
I saw amazing 4 Myanmar jade Buddha statutes there.
Wood carven, and painting also attractive Buddhist temple.
You can see also Tibetan style bells there.
I think Buddhist temples in Indonesia are very very rare due to muslim population. But this city has a lot of Christian and Church as well.
So I was pleased for this city and region because of different religions stay together with peacefully. It's one of the sample for world's important matter.
If you arrive to this temple, you can feel like Buddha's peaceful minded feeling. For me,I just arrive back to Buddha's shade in my native Myanmar.

This was a new place to visit at Brastagi - North Sumatra. Just finish built at October 2010.

The architecture was similar with Thailand Pagoda, all in gold, also the elephant statue, and other ornament. One different is there were bells outside the building (it’s just like temple at Taiwan or China), with Chinese alphabet (It’s Avalokitesvara – Kwan Im).
There were hang many flag outside (I’m not sure is that flag from many country or not).

Inside the building there were 4 Buddha statues at the centre. Like Thailand temple, to enter the building need to take off shoes. Also no camera, hat, sunglasses allow here, but it’s ok to capture picture with phone.
Inside the building we can pray with dupa and candle.
And the door (It’s seems) like India craft.

While outside the building they only sold vegetarian food, try some it’s delicious.
It’s worth to visit, beautiful. During my visit I only saw one monk here.

Was a bit long trip to got here but the view made no regret. The temple's design made you feel like you're somewhere in Thailand or Myanmar. Idk maybe the same kind of temple/religion. The view behind is not bad at all, there are stairs made of stone to go down the park. This place is not too large, you could go surround all the corner in 40 mins.

Okay, its close to Berastagi and there is no entrance fee. So worth a quick look if you want to. But compared to authentic buddhist temples of this style in Thailand and Myanmar, or compared to old Hindu temples in Indonesia (Borobodur for example!), this is pretty uninteresting and unassuming. Looks better from the outside.

Lots of cracks appearing, and bits of ceiling falling down. Probably not helped by the earthquakes caused by the rumbling Sinabung volcano.

I don't really care about the temple, but behind the temple it has one of the best restaurant in the town and it is vegetarian. The food's served in oriental and western style. Slightly more expensive than average dishes in the town but it 's worth for the value.
Of course I want to return to this restaurant again.

It seems in Burma from afar. However, there is Indonesian Flag, So it is in Indonesia. The architecture is polished by gold color. You need to put your shoes off before getting to the temple. It's cool. Must visit this temple If you visit Brastagi. You don't need to pay any kind of fee to enjoy the tremendous scenery.
