Such a shame, the garden centre itself is nice, lovely displays of Christmas stuff, unusual gift ideas and other interesting things. However the café is another matter. They seem to have taken all the right steps to spread out tables, replace some open tables with cubicles etc, but the service left a lot to be desired. We ordered Brie and bacon burgers - no Brie at 12 pm? Settled for cheeseburger with extra bacon which was fine. We asked for one burger with no bun or chips but it was delivered with both - gentleman quite happy to remove chips but really, the order should have been right to start with. Food was nice enough, garden salad was fresh and tasty, no complaints about the quality of food BUT having to wait over an hour for our meals to be served wasn’t acceptable especially as the place wasn’t that busy!…

Although it’s called Hilltop Garden store on here, it has recently been taken over by another company. It’s now called Charlbury Garden Centre. This review is for the restaurant “The Gardeners Retreat”. We had breakfast there on Saturday 29th August. The breakfast we ordered was the Big Breakfast at a cost of £7.99. The quality of the food was first class and the amount we had on the plate was indeed big. The BiG breakfast included 2 x Eggs, 2 x Sausage, 2 x Bacon, 2 x Hash Browns, beans, mushrooms and two slices of toast. It also included a hot drink of your choice. Now this is what we call a fantastic value for money. We returned on Monday 31st August for breakfast and took advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. The same breakfast was £4, no difference in amount or quality. We will be visiting this eatery on a regular basis and the way they deal with the restrictions that Covid has caused cannot be faulted. We can thoroughly recommend this as a quality eatery.…

This is a nice enough garden centre but thought the cafe rather expensive. . Coffee etc not too bad but £7 for a bacon & Brie ciabatta which had one slice of bacon between the two halves thought well over the top
