Cotswolds One Day Guided Walk - Private Groups

I am lucky enough to live in this postcard picturesque area on the edge of the famous Cotswolds region. It's easily reached from Oxford city- where I happen to be an experienced tour guide too. So if you book a tour with me, not only can I tell you lots about the Cotswolds heritage but also its connections to Oxford and eg the famous Oxford pre Raphaelite artists such as William Morris who lived in this region. On the tour, I will also introduce the historical monuments which we'll visit such a Roman villa & the ruins of a medieval manor house.

Such a shame, the garden centre itself is nice, lovely displays of Christmas stuff, unusual gift ideas and other interesting things. However the café is another matter. They seem to have taken all the right steps to spread out tables, replace some open tables with cubicles etc, but the service left a lot to be desired. We ordered Brie and bacon burgers - no Brie at 12 pm? Settled for cheeseburger with extra bacon which was fine. We asked for one burger with no bun or chips but it was delivered with both - gentleman quite happy to remove chips but really, the order should have been right to start with. Food was nice enough, garden salad was fresh and tasty, no complaints about the quality of food BUT having to wait over an hour for our meals to be served wasn’t acceptable especially as the place wasn’t that busy!

Although it’s called Hilltop Garden store on here, it has recently been taken over by another company. It’s now called Charlbury Garden Centre. This review is for the restaurant “The Gardeners Retreat”. We had breakfast there on Saturday 29th August. The breakfast we ordered was the Big Breakfast at a cost of £7.99. The quality of the food was first class and the amount we had on the plate was indeed big. The BiG breakfast included 2 x Eggs, 2 x Sausage, 2 x Bacon, 2 x Hash Browns, beans, mushrooms and two slices of toast. It also included a hot drink of your choice. Now this is what we call a fantastic value for money. We returned on Monday 31st August for breakfast and took advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. The same breakfast was £4, no difference in amount or quality. We will be visiting this eatery on a regular basis and the way they deal with the restrictions that Covid has caused cannot be faulted. We can thoroughly recommend this as a quality eatery.

This is a nice enough garden centre but thought the cafe rather expensive. . Coffee etc not too bad but £7 for a bacon & Brie ciabatta which had one slice of bacon between the two halves thought well over the top

I would recommend the cafe as fantastic food and also lots of different stuff in the garden centre and they all friendly and welcoming people that work there. Also soft play and a play area outside
