First of all you can easily go by yourselves with no organized tour. Instead we trust a man from the staff of Albuergue Espanol and we book a 2 days tour with Peruvian Andes Agency ( cost 115 soles each) . Do not go at...More
WOW!!! This place is Amazing. The Andes look Amazing the Canyon looks Beautiful. Only got to see the Condors from far away but it was all worth the trip. Nature at its best. The Colca Valley is Amazing rich of History and beautiful views. Its...More
This tour was awful! Our pick up time was at 2:45 AM and got picked up late. The driver then went to fill up at the gas station. We then waited 20 minutes for other passengers who were running late and were going to be...More
We went on our own for a 2D/1N trek, starting from Cabanaconde. The bus ride to Cabanaconde from Arequipa takes a while (6 hours), we decided to take a bus at 2pm (be aware that the departure time may vary on sundays) to start trekking...More
So personally, despite all the hype, I hated the colca canyon trek. I will explain.
The start is sickenly early- pickup at 3.30 AM. Long drive in a cold bus to the breakfast- awful old stale bread. Must have been over a week old with...More
Leaving the hotel at silly o'clock thinking why are we doing this! Well, I can say wouldn't have missed it
for the World. The canyon is amazing and the condors a sight to behold. We must have been lucky as
we saw dozens gliding on...More
I never write reviews but this one seems warranted. We booked a one day tour through American tours for Colca canyon. When we booked, we added and payed for the extras (lunch, thermal springs). However when we went on our tour (apparently run by a...More
I booked the 2 day 1 night trek for myself and husband. What I never knew was that you walk 17km on the first day alone down hill on a trail that is dusty and rocky and slippery. The sun was blistering hot and we...More
For Trekking lovers like us, hiking through the Colca Canyon was a great experience. Even if our group was a bit too big with more than 10 travelers, we tried to make the best out of it. In case you search for smaller more personal...More
I booked two days Colca canyon tour in American Tour company Arequipa. The food they provided during this 2 days trek was very bad. They also charged me double for buffet meal instead if 15 soles I had to pay 30 soles.

I went with an American friend who doesn't speak Spanish and we booked through PeruHop. The actual tour was operated by Colonial Tours. It cost US$ 28.00 plus S/.70 entrance fee for the national park (which you will have to pay no matter if you visit the area on your own or as part of a tour). We had a tour guide who explained everything in English and Spanish. They will take you to restaurants in Chivay for lunch and dinner. Lunch is both times a buffet for S/.30 plus beverages. Dinner is at a restaurant with a show. Personally, I found it pretty horrible and would recommend to skip it which is absolutely no problem. You will also have to decide if you want to do a tour (everything by bus) or do trekking. We chose the first option. Don't forget to buy coca leaves or soroche pills if you don't know how your body reacts as far as the altitude is concerned. However, I'm sure you'll enjoy the trip and seeing the condors fly is an amazing experience.
