This used to be probably a roman bridge first and then later modified by the Arabs. It was the only bridge before the more modern 18th century Puente Nuevo was built many centuries later.

You really get a feel for the Moorish roots of this city when you take the time to hike down to the old bridge. Bring your camera.

It is a long way down to this point along steep, winding streets but the view into the gorge is worthwhile.

Very beautiful old bridge and still accessible. I loved the view behind the bridge with all green areas and small hill.

If you are able to visit Ronda, a modest size but visually spectacular town, be sure to see this, older of two stone bridges (free and open 24/7). Pedestrians only so easy and safe for kids of all ages.
