This is a fascinating church with balconies on the front so that dignitaries could watch events happening in the square in front of it. Climb to the top of the towers to get the most amazing views of Ronda. Well worth the entrance fee.

The site has a long history linked to different religions. Archaeological investigations have shown that there was an early Christian church on the site and, before that, a Roman temple, possibly to Diana. The Colegiata Santa Maria la Mayor in Ronda was built as a...More

While not impressive from the outside, I found the interior to be surprisingly lovely. We climbed up to the balcony for another lovely view of Ronda.

Had an Audio Tour with this one. But if you just look at the Church its a mess. Its divided into too many different areas. The only good thing about it was the top tower walk around.

Initially we were doubtful if it was worthwhile to visit, but is surely is! A beautiful building with a very interesting history. A bit like traveling back in time. Also especially interesting is the stairway to the top of the church with great 360 degrees...More

When I first saw the Santa Maria la Mayor church in Ronda, I thought there was something weird about its appearance. It was attractive in its way, no doubt, but it looked like two buildings jammed together, one definitely ecclesiastical in architectural design and the...More
