Although under refurbishment it was a great day out, nice gardens, good lunch, easy parking. It was good to see the property stay open as the gardens alone are worth a visit.

Although the building work is going on it was still interesting. We are looking forward to going back when the renovations are finished.

This was beautiful, it was a shame that the castle is in the middle of some major renovations, but what we managed to see was stunning. Will definitely go back when the renovations are completed. The day we went it was raining, but we did manage to walk around the gardens which were absolutely beautiful.

Went here on a rainy day to escape the gloom elsewhere. This is clearly going to be a great attraction once it is refurbished / reopened properly. Whilst you can wander around the house the rooms are not as they should be, and are filled with displays put together by various artists, etc. This is not really clear from the... More

This is a wonderful garden, with formal rose plantations, and a sloping walk up to a large hedged grassed area, formerly a croquet lawn. Yes there is restoration of the castle at the moment but the garden is worth the entry fee alone.

This was so much better than I expected. Loved the way they've used art to explore the relationship with the building, history and the countryside - really good multi sensory displays. The climb to the top of the viewing platform was well worth it and Pam (volunteer) was so passionate, knowledgeable and interesting. The gardens were stunning and this will... More

Even though there is not a great deal to see in the castle due to extensive renovations it would be a pity if the work stopped so the funds from visitors are necessary. The National Trust are restoring the castle and need money to continue. The castle is set in a lovely spot and there is a nice cafe. There... More

Very interesting renovation. A real feat of dedication and engineering. Should be amazing when finished.

Despite the ongoing restoration work on the castle, it is still definitely worth visit by castle drogo to just for the location alone. Beautiful grounds and surrounding area are great for a picnic with the family and taking the dog for a walk! Extremely knowledgeable staff inside the castle are welcoming an give you a good insight into the work... More
