About
We are a group of people that love this island although not all of us were born here. We live, study, walk, swim and research constantly realizing how valuable this island’s nature and culture is. This is how an idea is born to combine research and actions-creative and entertaining- recognizing that tourism may benefit a place if developed in a proper scale and managed accordingly… Andros paths

We walked along Route No 1 from the Chora into the Valley and then back via Route No 17. It absolutely spectacular, about 18km all up. It was so picturesque, well maintained and well signed. We followed Route 1a at the top of the valley to have a lovely lunch under the trees. Would definitely recommend this walk and would love to come back and walk some of the other trails.

Andros is very hilly and windy!! If it wasn’t for the wind lowering the temperature we wouldn’t have managed the walks - lots of steps and varied rough ground. Routes well marked and easy to follow, really enjoyed doing a few on our holiday.

We went with UTracks. All the routes were well signposted and interesting. It was a great way to get to know a new island. Tracks were of a variable quality with some of the ones closest to towns suffering from poor maintenance.

Great walks! Amazing view. Most of the routs are well marked. They are suited to people of different walking skills from basic to advanced....:)
Some of the trails go through plenty of strawberry trees, fig trees and grapes.
If you walk for few hours and your muscles hurt.... and you are near Gavrio- go have a great relaxing massage with Dora.
She does good massage and reflexology and she also makes soaps, oil and cream from natural ingredients. Her shop is on the Main Street in Gavrio, in a little ally in the center. Really worth while. Her tel no is: 2282072328. - Welles’s center and herbal Cosmetics. Don’t miss it!

We went on our first walking trip abroad as we had read great reviews about the work done on opening up the old network of paths on Andros. And it didn't disappoint, very pleased we made the trip. The Andros Route map is good as a guide, but not as good at the detail as UK OS maps. What is excellent is the work local volunteers have done on the sign posting - way better than anything in UK. It is difficult to get lost, and if you accidentally stray you soon realise as no more signs - walk bak a little way and you find you missed one. The team have done a great job.

We bought the Andros walking map, expecting to have to use it for navigation, but once we’d found the start of route 2 from the chora to the waterfalls, the signposts were easy to follow along lovely off-road, well-maintained trails. Highly recommended, and we look forward to trying the other trails on future trips to Andros.

We are from Canada and love hiking. We googled hiking in Greece and Andros popped up! There were so many options to choose from. We did 14 & 15 routes I believe... the longer ones. The longest one is incredibly beautiful at the end. You also get super high up and the wind is crazy. You could almost be in Scotland!
We were exhausted by the end (which we love) and bought a lemon fanta which was maybe the best tasting thing I've ever had.

We hiked many of the trails while visiting Andros. The paths are VERY well marked and maintained in most cases. The only trouble we ran into were with some of the circle routes which are not maintained by Andros Routes. In all the paths are excellent and the map along with the website give you all of the information you need.
We walked over 240km while there. A wonderful place for trekkers!

We have tried three self-guided walks on Andros, varied in ability, the final walk up to the Panachradou Monastery. Well worth the climb, very friendly monks and stunning views. Andros is a unique island with walks for all abilities and very helpful guides (if you wanted).

If I were to stay in Batsi is it easy to get to the trails, or would another town be better to lodge in? I would still like some restaurants available. Do some rent a car to get to the beginning of the trails or is there local transportation available to reach the beginning of the trails.

There are two or three walks that start directly from Batsi. There are more that start from Chora though. Depending on how many you want to do and how long you have you may want to split your time between the two.
If you go to the Andros Routes web page they have maps and description of all the walks. We also bought a map once we arrived on Andros which was great to have on the walks!
Enjoy!!

I am hoping to arrive in Gavrio and store my luggage while I hike the Andros Route (100km). Any recommendations for where I could store a single piece of luggage and approximate cost?

We are visiting Andros from 8th June and would like to do the trails from Andros town. Can we get a map and a route guide and are there any accompanied walks? Thank you
