Arriving to find the start set in a cool and shaded valley we had every expectation of this being a special experience. However it did not turn out to be as good as hoped. The main reason is that following the set up of the site and with the presence of many people, especially at the height of the season,... More

just make sure it's butterfly time when you plan on going there :) bring enough to drink, it's very humid there but we thought it was worth going there! nice little walk and lots of nature.

Although a bit early for the butterflies we had a lovely walk through the wooded valley. We saw plenty of crabs & frogs in & around the water. Be warned that it is quite steep towards the end of the walk & good walking shoes are essential as the ground is very uneven in parts. Not suitable for anyone with... More

Ok we should have known at this time of year there would be no butterflies. We were not asked to pay the entry fee of 5euro. No warning that the main path was closed and beware toilets were also closed! On returning to main centre we had an ice cream then were asked to pay 50 cents for the toilets!... More

The valley is beautiful and a great place to take a short walk even without seeing butterflies in spring or autumn. What really shocked me was the fact that signs said that the butterfly population was rapidly decreasing, yet, not enough is happening to avoid this fact. I'll give a few examples: There was really a lot of rubbish inside... More

It is a magical place, cool and shady and because of the microclima of the area during the warmest months of the year thousands of butterflies of only one spieces are attracted and they spend the summer mating. It is very important not to disturb them in any way, by whistling, clapping hands or smoking and of course catching them.... More

26 klms from Rhodes town, among Theologos and Paradeisi villages lies the butterfly valley. In fact, you expect to see colourful butterflies but what you really find here is the summer settlement of the night butterfly Panaxia Quadripunctaria. The landscape is full of green, streams, small wooden bridges and little animals of the forest. Very nice and cooling during hot... More

The valley is very nice, BUT watch out cause the butterflies are dead mid-September! So, I personally didn't see any butterflies - however the area is still nice for a walk.
