It's absolutely hidden treasure! Amazing views, breathtaking scenery! We went there by car as telecabin was closed for renovation for seasonal openings! The way was a bit tricky but everywhere we went we needed to stop to make a picture! Pictures is not the same as you saw with your own eyes! Anyone visit Romania must come here! By the... More

After driving up the Transfagarsan you reach this tranquil lake at the top. A beautiful place to chill out, walk around, take some pictures and visit the restaurant. Definitely a place worth stopping on your drive.

Well, if you get there, you will love it. Fantastic view on both sides. Good road for Romania, there are a few parking lots, wild nature.

It is just so beautiful, it makes you want to cry and laugh at the same time. I was amazed by the beauty of the place and could not even sleep well because I just wanted to look out the window and watch the clouds over those breathtaking black mountains. The day before we arrived it was snowing and we... More

At the top of the Transfagarasan road you arrive to the Balea Lake which is nice and cold. Surrounding the lake are many local stools creating a market and it's very nice even on a rainy day. Taste as many local dishes that you can, they are fresh and tasty

We visited Balea Lake with my 5 year old son and my 1 year old dog. It is the most beautiful experience to do with all family members. Even my dog ( bichon ) loved it. Crowded or no crowded this place eliberates your soul.

This is a must for drivers, photographers and all others. The drive uphill to Balea is spectacular. Just be aware, on the summit you will find a traffic jam during the weekend. Getting a parking place can be though. So many people are visiting this place. Also the ongoing road is crowded with souvenir stands. The buzz brings a lot... More

Lots of things to do here, from just staying near the lake at the restaurant, to going on hard trails to the mountain tops. Don't visit on weekends (includind Sunday) because it's extremely crowded. We arrived on Sunday at 3PM and there was a one hour traffic line to get here.
