I’ve been visiting this place in those beaches for the past five years. I’ve told all my friends and acquaintances about them and I’ve seen how popular this beach has become and how crowded it is now in 2024.
This year there has been a new umbrella fee introduced on all of the bars here. And the official reasoning behind it is the rise of the operational costs, but at least in my opinion, it is not the proper way to battle higher operational costs with fixed fees for something that you used to sell for at least a decade as an included in all of your consumption.
This is how you transform a popular tourist destination into a tourist trap.
The proper way to fight higher cost is by raising the prices of your product or service. Let’s take frappe for example as one of them popular Greek drinks. In 2018 one frappe cost €2.50. In 2024 it costs between €5 and €6.50. In the same time one club sandwich with fries cost €7. Which is simply ridiculous.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the place. I love the beach. I love the atmosphere, but I decided not to go to the Seaside at my own country exactly because of such fixed fees and ways to make me pay unreasonably priced services.
If it wasn’t for those fixed fees, my review was going to be 5 out of 5 stars .

Ok, first of all, I've been coming to Peramos since 2013. The last time I was here was in August 2022. This year I was unpleasantly surprised by the fact that apparently all the beach bars introduced sun bed fees (not clearly stated). Then, the price of the drinks has gone from 4.5€ to 6.5€. So, I read a large number of reviews and it seems that this trend started this year. I even took the time to read the responses of beach bars owners who justify this with operational costs increasing.
Well, as a good customer allow me to share this... If you don't force me to spend the money, I'll spend it more out of satisfaction. It is August 1st and I noticed half empty parking, people leaving beaches at 5 in the afternoon and a full public beach in Peramos, which never was the case before. For years before, Peramos was truly a place I was looking forward to spending time (and money) in. Amolofi beach, too. Now, the question is whether it is turning into a tourist trap because some people justify it with operational costs?

Great beaches for all tastes! Spotless! Mainly calm seas or with light waves, with or without sunbeds. More worldly and more remote. Listed in my must picks. The largest section does not cover very expensive tastes and comforts 5 ⭐️ but if your preference is mainly the clear waters, the bottom and the comfort of movement on the beach without crowds, you have found your beach! Food further away or nearby, depending on which length of the Sandhills you are and patrons mainly locals and Balkans

The best time to enjoy this enchanting beach is when all the umbrellas have disappeared and the beach bars have closed. But if you find yourself there in the dead of summer and want your peace, there are a couple of spots on the dunes where you can enjoy the beach, the sea and the early calm listening to the waves. Go to the free track next to the campsites or in front of the campsite. Of course, the lucky ones saw this coast in its glory at least 20 years ago. Now thanks to the profit the sandhills have disappeared ( flattened) and their place has been taken by umbrellas and sunbeds! Pity! But there are many beaches in the area and you will definitely find a place to enjoy the sandy beach and crystal clear waters.

The whole peninsula is consisted of several beach bars and Ammos Beach Bar was just below average. Very dirty bathrooms and changing rooms. Drinks over priced for no reason and coffee is incredibly bad. Better off to be at Koo Beach Bar, next to it, much cleaner in every sense.

The beach in Amolofoi is amazing! One of best in north of Greece!!!
From the other hand the beachbar LaRocca located at the beach's left side one of the worst we've been. The service was under all criticism, none of them knew anythink about anything. At the end all bills were wrong!
Recommending tip: check the bill before paying!

A Loutsa in the area of Kavala. I visited the area in August. Lots of people I think they all come here only. Like a very good beach with a wonderful sandy beach and clean sea with very beautiful waters. If you see it, however, they have turned it into a continuous BEACH BAR, I would describe it as a sunbed BEACH. For those who like this, go (it's good to be early because you won't find a sunbed near the sea or make a reservation, they have minimal consumption). For others, go on days with some tourism. Some shops in Cyclades have also seen it.

A tale of two beach bars at Ammolofoi:
Peponi -- People jammed together like sea lions during mating season, others playing volleyball very close to the heads of entering customers. Everyone looks the same, demographically speaking. It's like a horizontal meat market. Loud Eurovision music makes the appearance of nonchalant relaxation a sham.
Ammos -- Fewer bodies, more diversity of body types and age ranges, calmer than Peponi next door, much more space between sunbathers. Relatively calm yet upbeat music didn't hit us with a sledgehammer.
The mild water temp and shallow depth were ideal for families with small kids and wimps like me. Umbrellas at Ammos provide plenty of shade. Snacks such as sandwiches with fries were substantial.

Beatiful beach but terrible mangament. In 10 minutes somebody steal our bag which is locked in to other one. I dont know the other bars but in PEPONI beach bar no body bothered . The manager talled me it is your problem. People there are well organized for other things than the beach managent. DONT GO THERE IF YOU DO NOT LOOSE YOUR WALLET CELL PHONE AND CAR KEYS.....

You can take a bus from the KTEL Kavala station to Peramos. Then, transfer to a smaller shuttle bus to the beach bars at Ammolofoi. The rides take 30 - 40 minutes.
