A comprehensive exhibition of Schiele's work

This gave me a much more rounded view of Schiele's work than I had previously encountered even in his hometown. There were also works by other artists previously unknown to me... read more

An interesting building! I would have liked to know a bit more about the building itself. As with so much of Cesky Krumlov, the ground floor has very uneven floors so watch out! I would have liked a bit more context for what was displayed, either signs or an audio guide. Left on my own with the pieces, I can... More

I was blown out of the water with the exhibits and level of art that is available to be viewed here. I was lucky enough to see Pavel Brazda and his wife's work. Pavel is extremely talented and I enjoyed his exhibit very much! The staff was friendly and layout was amazing. Please do stop here to see a bit... More

There are some historical items of the artist and some photos, but this is essentially an art exhibition space with a gift shop and an Egon Schiele space on his life. Is it worth 6 euros? Not really. Is it worth a half hour of your time? Maybe.

My husband and I were only in Cesky Krumlov for a day and a half, so we debated about visiting this museum, but we were very glad we decided to stop in. My husband is Peruvian, so it was coincidental that the main exhibit featured Peruvian and/or Peruvian-inspired art. The Schiele exhibit was excellent, but the temporary Peruvian exhibit was... This gave me a much more rounded view of Schiele's work than I had previously encountered even in his hometown. There were also works by other artists previously unknown to me: Jaroslav Hněvkovský, Otto Placht and Dimas Paredes Armas, as well as Peruvian indigenous artefacts.

I came to see the Egon Schiele pieces, and stayed to experience so many other beautiful works. And all in a unique and dramatic space, which is well worth the effort to visit.

Even if you don't love the work of Egon Schiele, check out this small museum. It is more than the sum of its parts. The story of Schiele's mentors and colleagues brings to life an entire generation of artistic expression. And a current exhibit illuminates an interesting relationship between Czech and Peruvian artists. If you're an artist yourself, find out... More
