Fine excursion

We took the underground/mine excursion for the second time and, again, we were very happy with the guide. Thanks! :)

Arrived 15 minutes before the museum was due to close, young man was rude and unhelpful, just wanted to lock up and go home. Started arguing with our guide, not impressed.

We were greeted by a local choir - very atmospheric This is the place to learn all about the silver mining and minting industry. This where the word Dollar comes from. The local version of it was the silver Thaler, the local currency. There is a wonderful horse driven winding mechanism. If you know anything about wood working this is... More

They give you coveralls & a hard hat with a light & walk you through a section of the original centuries old workings Not for the claustrophobic or overweight - the old tunnels have low ceilings & were a pretty close fit for my 5' 4" size 8 frame [They ask you to leave backpacks up in the museum because... We had to don white cotton jackets/robes and hard hats with lights for the tour. Apparently the medieval miners wore similar jackets. It's a good thing we had hard hats, as the ceilings were low and the passageways were very tight. I'm pretty sure there wasn't any paint left on my helmet.

If you ever go to Kutná Hora, do not skip this one! One of the tours available includes getting a lab coat and a hard hat and actually going inside a former mine. The museum above ground is also worth seeing. The best to do is to check internet and book the tour in advance - they even do tours... More

I came to Kutna Hora specifically to see this museum which is just fabulous. As a geologist I was very excited about seeing all the medieval silver making history of this very famous part of Europe. The museum has wonderful galleries and the guides are excellent and extremely informative. Try to do the underground mine tour if possible, it is... More

An interesting museum, especially if you manage to get a tour in a language you understand. We went on a Czech tour with some English descriptions, which was ok, but definitely less fun than getting all the explanations. Also, it is definitely not a museum/tour for people who have issues with small, confined places as it gets rather tight down... More

Take the silver mine tour at this museum,it's fun and you can cool down when it's hot outside! Just don't be afraid of low and narrow places 😁
