The ticket for the guided tour to the basement does not include the museum (but no one explains it). We do the tour in Czech (it was the first and we were in Plzen a few hours) but the audio guide is not working (qr code not working and you have to download the app). "Very kind" the cashier who (we had tried to speak in Russian, a language that legitimately did not know) informs us that the audio guide is in English "or you do not speak English as well"... A rudeness out of bounds and totally unmotivated. They give a bonus to buy 0.3 beer (but it doesn't pay).

Had a blast in the cellars & passages beneath the city. The tour is approximately an hour long & very informative. Lots of history & some unexpected titbits about Plzen itself.
If you like out the ordinary experiences & some interesting cultural knowledge, this tour is right up your alley.
Great fun.

Attention even entrance as the beer museum. And we sell you the underground before the museum. The underground tour sucks. Plus it lasts an hour. No visits in French. In English not very clear. The only interest is to see the underground network of the city.

Hi, everyone.

Plzen Historical Underground is one of the MUST-do thing during Pilsen visit, it`s conveniently located in the Pivovarsky museum ( same counter sells tickets) and a few steps from the St. Bartholomew and the historical part of the town.

We were guided through a labyrinth of corridors, cellars and wells under the city centre,
the building of which began as early as in the14th century, and which have been an integral part of the city’s past and present.

Unfortunately after some renovation the walls at the cellars and vaults were pained in the cheerful peachy yellow color and some brights lamps were added to the environment which IMO poorly corresponds with ( pre-supposed) gloomy atmosphere of the place and its general purpose.
Pure and raw concrete/lime-stone would be of the place..................

The Pilsen Underground labyrinth is almost 800 metres long and features a host of archaeological finds unveiling the history of the Underground and reviving the everyday life of the medieval City.
At the exit every member of the group ( the tours are guided only and conducted by the specified time, language - Czech and English 9 2 tours daily) will be presented by a special coin that he/ she may exchange for 0.2 litre of specialty Master Semi-dark beer from the Plzensky Prazdroj’s in U Salmanu, Na parkane and Na Splitse restaurant.

The tour terminates at the Brewery Museum again. There is a gift store where you can buy a souvenir for yourself or your family/friends.

Basic fee (includes a beer tasting) CZK 70 (in Czech) CZK 90 ( in English).

A valuable tips:
1/ do not wait for the tour in English ( if you need one), just book the closest one in Czech and get an audio-guide in almost every European language. It will maximize your time and give you more freedom to explore the area and drink BEER.
2/ If you are claustrophobic, the place is not for you. Also not very comfortable for the high people ( higher than 185cm).
3/ better wear sneakers when you go there, some parts of the corridors are slippery and wet. Also the air downstairs is 10 degrees lower than in the open air. Bring a jacket or smth fleecy along ( even in summer time).
4/ Every visitor at the entrance is provided with protective equipment: a builder`s plastic helm with disposable underline...some ceilings are REALLY low.

Cheers and enjoy.................

Other than the Pilsner Urquell Brewery tour...yes you realy should...the underground tour of Plzen was delightful. It was also quite nice to get out of the sun and into the cool basement tunnels with the multilingual guide. My wife and I often speak of it now minths later. Easy to find and affordable.

A really fascinating underground tour of the complex of tunnels and small rooms that families allowed to brew beer in the 14th century dug by hand. Be warned, this tour originates from a building that is NOT within the Pilsen Brewery, but is in the old city town square, which is at least a 20 minute walk from the Brewery. We didn't realize this and by the time we found the building, our tour had started. The women at the ticket office were quite upset with us, and while we tried to explain we would be happy to join the next tour in whatever language it was in, as we realized we were late. Just a note to them - yelling at us in Czech doesn't make us understand you any better. But one employee did walk us down throught the tunnels to catch up with the English tour, which was about 10-15 minutes into the tour, although she clearly wasn't happy about doing this. Our male tour guide was wonderful - he obviously loved the history and heritage of his city. There are some extremely tight spaces to walk through, so if you have a thing for being in tight spaces underground, this might not be for you. But the few tight spaces open up into larger spaces that are not so confined. The area around the Underground Tour office is within the old city square and is beautiful!

Interesting experience if you are in Pilsen. The tour is well-organised. You can buy tickets online, and they provide safety helmets. Unfortunately, our guide was not particularly cheerful. His English was good, but he just recited a learned speech, and spoke very fast and with a plain tone. He did not make any effort to interact with visitors, which resulted in little engagement. He was ask by a visitor to speak slowly, and he tried for about two minutes.

Very interesting and entertaining tour of a small part of Pilsen's extensive network of tunnels and cellars. Well organised and led by an informative and friendly guide. Be prepared to don a hairnet and hard hat for the occasional low section, but the passages are dry, quite wide, well lit and quite airy - it was warmer than above ground at this time of year too!
Good value and with beer vouchers for later, what's not to like? (unless you are a claustrophobic teetotaller and very precious about your hair-style, of course!)

It was nice and interesting to see the underground! Cheap ticket too. But you het an audioguide device, wich is hard to listen to when the chech tourguide is talking. Plus the audioguide wasnt finished when the guide was already at the next stop. The audio guide had extra stories, but there was no time to listen to them.

The underground is very interesting to see. Plus you will get a free beer to the ticket. Moreover, if you buy the entrance to the beer museum, you will even get 25% discount and another beer.
