Every country has its symbols and legends and the Czech ones include Pilsner Urquell lager which has been brewed in a town called Plzen (Pilsen) since 1842. Since then the fame of Pilsner Urquell beer has spread around the world and, inspired by this exceptional brew, more than two-thirds of the beers produced today are commonly known as pils, pilsner or pilsener. The Pilsner Urquell brewery is a unique industrial heritage site which holds the status of Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). The brewery tour showcases all of the authentic places where Pilsner Urquell lager has been brewed for more than 170 years, and where its story continues today. You will see the heart of the brewery - both the historical and contemporary brewhouse. You will smell and taste the raw materials that are used to brew Pilsner Urquell, and the panoramic cinema will take you through the brewing process. And at the end you will taste unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from oak lager barrels in the historic brewery cellars. The brewery is open year-round. The journey from Prague takes about one-and-a-half hours and you can either travel on your own by car, bus or train.

This was a really great tour to see how the Pilsner product is made. It was very informative and didn't drag on like some tours can.

Pilsen is nothing without a mandatory visit to the Brewery. First-class rating. Very eloquent young English guide.

They offer 3 tours per day in English (at least on the day I took it). The girl who was guiding us had a great English and answered all our questions. The tour is made in a very nice, interesting and interactive way. It lasts around 1,5 hours I totally recommend taking this tour!! After that, just go to the... More

The tour was quite informative. Pilsener being the first bottom fermented beer has a history associated with it. The cellar inside was huge, Was fascinating to see what all people did to make a cold place (Just to brew beer) in times when there was no refrigeration.

Pilsner Urquell is the world’s first-ever pilsner type blond lager, making it the inspiration for more than two-thirds of the beer produced in the world today, many of which are named pils, pilsner and pilsener. If you already visited some breweries in the world it is just one more but... the first one to produce lager!

As a beer drinker, I have wanted to tour this brewery for nearly 20 years. I have visited several tours of modern breweries, but I desperately wanted to visit this working monument to beer. I absolutely loved everything about the tour. The guide was perfect and very enthusiastic about their product. The knowledge of the person was amazing. I thought... More

I have visited the brewery several times, but it is always somehow special. If you want to feel, touch and smell the beer, go there, because the interactive exhibition is great!

I was eventually persuaded by my "other half" that we should visit the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and I have to admit, it was one of the highlights of my visit to the Czech Republic. Yes, it's very touristy, but they cater very well for "us tourists" and the history of the brewery is very interesting. We were staying in Prague... More

This is the source of lager, the place it started. The original brand. The place after which pilsner got its name. There is a tour available of the Brewery and it's Museum, highly recommended. It's fascinating to see the old way in which the nectar was manufactured. But also was interesting to see the modern way, and in particular the... More

I would recommend the brewery tour, which gives you the feeling of the tradition of brewing beer. The tour also includes the old beer cellars with a test of beer made in classical style in wooden barrels without any additional treatment. \interesting not only for foreign visitors. Strongly recommend during hot days as there is a very low temperature in... More
