One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. Nice sculpture next to Estates Theater where Mozart debut his Don Giovanni. The guide told a story (folklore, perhaps) where an individual, after a night of heavy drinking, stuck his behind into Il Commendatore's hood and was not able to extricate himself.

Il Commendatore Statue is a fabulous mysterious looking statue that draws the crowds .
Sculptured by Anna Chromy in 1993 Il Commendatore Statue is known as the Cloak Of Conscience & Tolerance and is taken from Mozarts Don Giovanni.
The statue looks absolutely amazing, makes for some great photographic opportunities, it's a proper selfie magnet.
Easy to locate, its adjacent to the wonderful Estates Thestre and is found on a street called Ovocny Trh.
Well worth checking out.

I was really keen to see the works of the talented Czech artist and painter, Anna Chromy. Her most impressive is the 1992 award-winning Cloak of Conscience sculpture made from a single block of Carrara white marble. The Il Commendatore Statue is part of a series of Cloak of Conscience sculptures (faceless hooded figures) she had done.
This particular statue, sitting just outside the Opera House, commemorates Mozart's premiere of his opera Don Giovanni in 1787. The sculpture was smaller than expected, but it gave off a sense of foreboding and sadness. The emptiness underneath the cloak is fascinating. You sort of expect something to be there, but there is really nothing.
I would imagine, in the dark, by the light of a single lamp, this sculpture would look rather ominous and eerie.

No shivers at all. Statue as a statue. If to say for a sometime, you may find it funny to watch how tourists try to make an unusual photo here.

This statue sits outside the Estate Theater in Prague. It is one of the strangest statues
In the world as it is a shroud around a hollow figure. You may have seen many statues of fictional characters but this is one of a fictional ghost. II Commendatore is a character which appears as a ghost on an opera. This statue was crafted by the Czech-born artist Anna Chromy in 2000. It is a very scary piece. There is a legend associated with this figure that if you take a photograph of it with a flash you will see the face of the ghost in the picture.

Il Commendatore by Anna Chromy is a world famous statue and naturally draws the crowd even if you don't know it's history and origin. The hollowed out statue seems to float without a face as it looks back at you without a face. It has a strange sensation on your eyes and nerve.
