Top ways to experience Queen Anne's Summer Palace
The area
Neighbourhood: Hradcany & Letna
Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

I liked the summer palace a lot. It looks quite old and is in a cool style. And the gardens attached to it are really nice. It’s a great place to take a rest and just sit and enjoy things. A great spot.

Queen Anne's Summer Palace, also called Belvedere is a beautiful Italian Renaissance building. It took years to built. Ferdinand I, the first Habsburg to rule the Czech lands built it for his wife Anne in the mid 16th century.
The much photographed building is on the corner of the Royal Garden and it is used for various exhibitions.
The views are beautiful ..the name Belvedere is composed of two Italian words:
Bel - beautiful
Vedere - (to) see
Sadly the Queen , who had 15 children did not live long enough to see it's completion...
We love to return every time we are in Prague. For a leisurely stroll and a quiet break ..
This year for the first time we had to pass through security to enter the Royal Garden.

In the corner of the castle garden you can come in to the castle area without queues and first visit in the extremely fine photographer exhibition. Nice garden with great views.

Fascinating photos of the dissolving of the eastern block 30 years ago. Amazingly tight security for a simple yet good photo exhibition. The most interesting this was the WC attendant whose life's assignment was to vet and take the peefee and or poofee of every peeing and or pooping person who uses the WC. She probably was an ex KGB or stasi agent promoted to guarding the wc at this strategically vital point in the nation...! I couldn't stop giggling at her antics. Demanding the 10 kc, c. 40 euro cents and barking out instructions in czech which many non Czechs dont understand... strangely enough.
