Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

It’s a pretty nice part of the castle area. It doesn’t take long to look at and is an interesting part of the history. Worth a look.

Prague Castle has a rich history, a traumatic history in some cases as during the War Of The Austrian Succession in 1748 large parts of the castle complex were badly damaged, after the battles fought here and with the vindication of Maria Theresa as Queen Of Hungary she commissioned architect Nicalo Picassi to renovate and expand the castle and this beautiful piece of architecture was created, known as Empress Maria Theresa Entrance, it was the entrance for noblemen to enter Rosenberg Palace which was also an institute for noblewomen, its a great example of Neo Romanesque architecture that's most definitely well worth checking out if you're in Prague Castle.

My twin brother Stephen and I were enjoying hot wines in the wonderful Prague Castle Christmas Market ,it was great sipping our warming wines as the snow fell and taking in the great architecture ,one part of the Prague Castle complex I loved to view was Empress Maria Theresa Entrance.
This is such a wonderful entrance to Rosenberg Palace,an institute for noblewomen at the time ,during the War Of The Austrian Succession in 1748 heavy fighting left parts of Prague Castle heavily damaged ,after the fighting subsided Maria Thersa's claim as Queen Of Hungary was vindicated ,the empress hired Nicolo Picassi to begin extensions and renovations to Prague Palace ,one such renovation was to this entrance ,a wonderful example of Neo Renaissance architecture ,it's most definitely well worth checking out if you're thinking of visiting Prague Castle.

This part of Prague Castle is so called because it was rebuilt as a dignified entrance for the noble women of the court. The building was destroyed during the Austrian War of Succession and rebuilt in I think a Renaissance style with classically inspired Ionic columns supporting a renaissance style roof.

Not a must see, but interesting for the architecture all the attractions of Prague castle are within easy walking distance anyway.

This palace entrance was built in the mid-18th century at Prague Castle in the Rococo style and named after Queen Maria Theresa of Hungary (1717 - 1780).
