The Old Town Square is not to be missed if you visit Prague. There are plenty of lovely old buildings to photograph, places to eat and drink on the square, and of course the Astronomical Clock to see. However, be prepared for massive, massive crowds if you go in the summer like we did. It might have been the time... More

The Old Town Square during the holiday season is one of the most magical places I've ever been to. The decorations, the tree, the markets, and the lights were all extraordinary. Will definitely be back there sometime in the future - I'm going to find it hard to travel there any other season though, knowing how beautiful everything looks around... More

The churches the views up the tower, the astronomical clock, the beer bars in the square, the statues. Just so much packed in to such a small area. Lots of things to just sit and look at . The Czechs are so hospitable that they staged a stand off between drunken football fans and the police right in the middle... More

Christmas time is a special time in most cities and experiencing this square either during the night time or during the day is a wonderful experience. To me it is about the sense or community, you get to experience during this time of year, seeing the families gather. Sharing in yearly traditions in this open air market. Enjoy.

Came here on our first evening in Prague to look at the Christmas market, and there were things to buy, eat, and sights to see. The stalls tend to get a little repetitive after a while as they all sold roughly the same things, but we still came back two days later to get some souvenirs and go up the... More

Lovely square with all the Christmas decorations and lights and huge trees. The markets, nativity scene and also the donkey, sheep and goat added to this atmosphere.

Visited the Christmas market in old town square during our stroll through the city. The market do offer a selection of gifts, toys etc, but what caught our eyes and nose was different aromas of freshly cooked food. It was mouthwatering and a wonderful treat to our eyes and stomach. You wouldn't regret it...

Its a wonderful place to just walk around and spend a lazy afternoon at a cafe in Old Town. Loved the local beer and food. The famous clock is right there in the middle of the old town square

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
