About
The Church of St Nicholas in Lesser Town in Prague, the most famous Baroque church in Prague, stands along with the former Jesuit college in the centre of the Lesser Town Square. It represents a magnificent example of the "Prague Baroque" period of the 18th century. W.A. Mozart himself played the organ in this church!

Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

One of the 6 most impressive sites in Prague!
This is an opulent church that likely represents the maximal expression of baroque in Prague. Outside is imponent, Inside is just impressive! The church is a museum and from time to time concerts of sacred music take place in the church. You have to pay 100 Czech crowns which is not much. The staff is friendly. Things to pay attention to: 1. The Holy Trinity frescoes that cover the dome 2. The altar 3. The chapels 4. The columns and a lot of décor made of wood that mimics marble very well 5. The roof 6. The second floor with views to the church and a lovely exhibit of religious paintings. I suggest to go independently. Tours don't take you to the second floor. It is the tallest church in Prague. To me, the Church of Saint Nicholas, the Loreta, the Cathedral of Saint Vitus, the Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul, the Municipal House, and the Spanish Synagogue are the most impressive sites in Prague!

    Our favourite church in Prague
Prague has its share of historic buildins and places and certainly many churches. But this one is the best weve seen. It's big, it's colourful, it's awe-inspiring and beautiful. It looks humble from the outside but it will humble you with its paintings and the huge chandelier. Go there, you will love it.

    Stunning Baroque Church
While the exterior is still impressive to see, it's the Baroque interior of this church that is definitely stunning. Pretty awestruck at the intricate work of the interior. You can visit the top during certain times of the year, and the second level is reachable via stairs as well. Be mindful if going to the second level as the railings are low and it's dangerous for any small children to go near the edge as a fall over it would be the end. Thus, just be very mindful when enjoying the views.

One of the most beautiful churches in Prague
One of the most beautiful squares in Prague is Malostranske Namesti ,great architecture on all sides and one of the most beautiful buildings on this square is St Nicholas Church. The Church Of St Nicholas ( Kistel Svateho Mikulase ) is a well established church constructed between 1704-1755 and was built on the site of a religious building that had stood since the 13th century . This church was designed by architect Christoph Dientzenhofer ,a great example of Baroque architecture ,this church is most definitely a big tourist attraction ,hardly surprising as the interior is stunning ,it's a fabulous looking church building and most definitely well worth checking out if you're near Malostranske Namesti.

    Better inside than out.
We walked past the Church on the way through the Lesser town to see the castle. The church looks nice on the outside but its when you go inside that the church is an absolute belter. The richness and ornateness of the fittings / monuments / décor is truly outstanding and an amazing piece of Baroque architecture. This is a must do if you are in the area. Just stunning.

A very nice Baroque style church built in the 18th century, in Lesser town of Prague.
A very nice Baroque style church , situated at Lesser town . Is visible from many parts of Prague because of its Green big dome . Go in on your way down from the castle back to the city . Disappointing, admission not free .

One of the most beautiful churches in Europe
I saw several beautiful churches in Prague but this one rivals some of the most famous in all of Europe. It’s truly breathtaking. I recommend going up to the gallery to see it from a different angle. I went pretty close to closing time and it was fairly quiet

Ornate and colorful on the inside
Much different from its larger relative up the hill, this is a much brighter and much more ornate church. different colors of marble, gold trim and many frescoes adorn the inside of this beauty. We came down the hill from the castle and the Cathedral and this was just a shocking change. This is much more reminiscent of many of the churches we saw in Italy versus what we’re typically seeing in the Germanic regions. A stunner of a church...if you’re into that sort of thing.

Interior is the Most Beautiful Church in Prague and Panoramic Views from the Belltower
The interior of this Baroque church is arguably the most beautiful in all of Prague and should not be missed. The exterior is also a stunning sight especially when illuminated at night. Located just over the Charles Bridge in the quaint Lesser Town (Mala Strana) which is a neighborhood that is worth exploring. You can also climb the 200 steps of the belltower of the church for some great panoramic views of the city. The best views are actually about halfway up as it is open air as opposed to the small windows that you need to peer out at the top of the tower. From here you have great views of the Lesser Town, Charles Bridge and the Old Town across the river plus views of nearby Prague Castle and Strahov Monastery. On Friday and Saturday nights at 6pm, there are relatively inexpensive classical music concerts offered with tickets that can be purchased on the day of the concert.

    A stunning church
Me and my wife thought we'd pop in to have a look at the church while we were in the old town square and we both thought it was stunning inside. The huge amount of detail in the stonework and the paintings. Plus the huge chandelier that welcomes you as you walk in. Free to enter!

A nice church located close to the Prague Castle. One of the most popular tourist destinations, the dome is eye-catching. I didn't go up the tower but the view is amazing.

These days, a place and ornate pieces left in a place with lots of foot traffic and no visible security. Astounding lack of security.

We stopped here mainly to see the chandelier apparently provided by a Russian Tsar.

It is another beautiful church.

Picture if the front from the square and a couple inside are attached.

A highlight of our trip, try to join a guided tour to enhance your understanding of the church's history and architectural significance. Knowledgeable guides often share fascinating stories and anecdotes. As St. Nicholas Church is a spiritual place, it's recommended to dress appropriately, covering shoulders and knees,be mindful of other visitors when you take photos and avoid using flash to not disturb the peaceful ambience., Take some time to explore the picturesque Lesser Town district surrounding St. Nicholas Church. Don't miss the stunning views from the nearby Charles Bridge or an idyllic stroll through Kampa Park.
