This is a MUST for your trip to Prague. We stayed in Old Town for three nights in snowy January, a stone's throw from Charles Bridge and just next to the Jewish Quarter. With the Astronomical Clock, street performers and a bustling bar scene all around you, it's easy to get swelled up in the "proper" Prague atmosphere. We've loved... More

In preparation for my trip to Prague, everything I read indicated a visit to Old Town should be at the top of anyone's list of things to do. This was excellent advice as Old Town is a beautiful collection of centuries-old buildings in various styles. There are restaurants on several sides and of course the star is the Astronomical Clock.... More

Picturesque and lots to see. Everything is more or less within walking distance. Do dress up if you are visiting in the winter.

Very nice neighbourhood to walk around in. I recommend going into the town hall tower for a nice view of the old town.

It was cold and snowy on Friday the 13th of January when we visited the old town, but to see the Astrological clock strike at the top of the hour and marvel at the 14th century mechanics of this beauty, taste the local food available in various booths and see the cathedral in the area is a memory never forgotten!

Prague just has so much more in her bottomless pockets to show you and your family and friends. You'll probably regret it deeply if you don't go on a guided tour during your stay, whether short or not. I'm a guide myself, and always take on new tasks, guiding tourists, whether individuals, couples or groups. I'm in close touch with... More

I was totally blown away at the beauty and magnificence of the Old Town in Prague. We did a walking tour, visited the Castle and took a river cruise whilst there. There are great places to eat and wandering along the cobbled streets looking at historic attractions was amazing. We spent 4 days in Prague and loved every minute.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
