This was one of the best museums to learn all about artists that have contributed to the Czech. It was really well laid out and included information that might not be seen in other places. We would go back just because there was so much to see.

Located near the old town square, this modest museum is a pleasant, but hardly spectacular, way to kill an hour

Amazing. Give yourself a big leisurely chunk of hours to take in this incredible place, both the temporary and permanent exhibits. I've never had a museum's architecture make such an impact on me, and it was excellently curated to boot.

Wanted to visit for Gustav Klimt and was not disappointed! First ventured into the mezzanine which were the temporary exhibits and was bored to death with the "modern art" I guess it was not my cup of tea seeing random pieces of clothes on the floor. Decided to start from the top and was wowed by the more classical pieces... More

We visited this place freely, thanks to Prague Card and we were not disappointed. Although we could not visit every floor (because it was not included in this free ticket), the floors we saw there great various pieces of art from both paintings but also sculptures.

Although the National Gallery looks rather appealing judging on their webpage, I have to admit that, given the price, it is rather disappointing. If you only have to pay the student price then you might want to visit it, otherwise I recommend other places - like the Gallery of Art.

We did start with the third floor and have to say it was a great decision moreover that we had 2-3 hour max in total; What a perfect collection - Klimt, Van Gogh, Picasso, Chagall, Cezannem Gauguin, etc; absolutely enjoyed it; at the end, headed to the Slav Epic themes at the ground floor that is an amazingly beautiful creation... We took an Uber to visit this museum and paid the full National Gallery entrance. That is advisable because we were able to visit other museums in their system on the same ticket - make sure you keep yours. There was a big exhibit from the US, including Warhols, Ruscha, Audubon, Cassatt. We enjoyed seeing the Czech works as well... More

Most of these were not very not very busy, at least in December. Great works of art, from French/Dutch/Italian masters and also Czech. Should not be missed. A good range of Picasso Paintings and Drawings. Šternberský palác (within the Castle, but you do not need to buy a Castle entrance ticket to visit) - this has European Art (from Antiquity... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
