We spent over 4 hours looking at the 4 floors of art - and taking a break for coffee and cake in the pleasant cafe. Lots of good modern Czech artists work on display plus a floor of classic 19th century french works, and a good number of cubist, impressionist and post impressionist works plus some good examples of most... I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't heard of some of the greats of the Czech art scene, and found myself wondering how I could have missed out on artists like Capek and Toyen, whose work I enjoyed a lot and was pleased to be educated on. The non-Czech exhibits are equally compelling, with pieces by some of the greats across... More

Off the beaten path but really easy museum to find for a half-day break from Stare Mesto. Also great people watching for locals. This is a popular museum on a weekend afternoon.

I visited here with my husband in early February. This museum is pretty big and will take probably 3-4 hours to complete. It can be confusing which directions to go though, I wish there had been more of a flow. The 21st century Czech art was my favourite. I didn't see the Slav Epic here when I visited and the... More

We walked in because we wanted to see Mucha‘s paintings. I must say that the place is nice. Until you realize how old it really is. Mind-blowing. We stayed for the permanent exhibition and while it doesn't wow you particularly, the building still does. The coffee shop is also very cool and serves good coffee.

I was first in the National Gallery in Prague, but I was a little disappointed. Works Gallery is nice, it's great, but the building is really old and unkempt. Definitely can match any gallery in London or Paris, there are really amazing. What good is that going here in Prague a few people, not standing in the queue. What is... More

This was one of the best museums to learn all about artists that have contributed to the Czech. It was really well laid out and included information that might not be seen in other places. We would go back just because there was so much to see.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
