Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

We saw many different plants, along with peacocks and owls. We saw the white peacock but not up close. This is a must see if in Prague.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 October 2023

A little hard to find as there was not much signage. We ran into a large tour group but they were always on the other side of the garden. Nice to watch the koi fish and just relax for a little bit.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 August 2024

Our tour guide, after a longer morning touring around the Prague Castle, took us off to the side to the Wallenstein Palace Gardens so that we could sit, relax and enjoy the surroundings. It was the perfect place to rechange our batteries…and based upon the number of locals enjoying their lunches there, obviously an exceptionally popular spot with the locals. The gardens were beautiful with wonderful water features and carved walls (to look like random carvings, but actually contain hidden images). And the gardens were exceptionally well maintained.

We found this free to enter garden whilst looking for the steps up to the castle and were amazed at the peace and calm, broken only by the screeching of peacocks wandering on the lawns and under the hedges. The lake is large and full of Koi Carp. A lovely contemplative space

This garden is close to the main tourist routes but was very quiet during out visit. Such a pretty tranquil space. They have a lovely water feature with peacocks all around it that will walk right next to you. Lots of statues and landscaping. Worth a quick visit if passing.

Absolutely wonderful. Lush, well-kept gardens with peacocks roaming throughout. Given the fact that I visited in summer, they were also surprisingly empty. Would highly recommend for travelers to Prague, particularly those visiting on a budget.

My favorite part of Wallenstein Palace Gardens is the Grotto Wall and the adjacent eagle owl aviary. I had been there before but wanted my wife to experience it as well. Unfortunately, it started to rain so this was all we were able to see. Our main purpose was achieved but it would have been nice to spend more time there.

Despite the fact that the garden was relatively busy, I enjoyed a very peaceful visit here. The gardens are very well kept, I found them to be very calming. There are plenty of places to sit here to soak it up. And the entrance is free which is a bonus

The Wallenstein Gardens are a nice place of quiet and beauty after the end of a long tour through the Prague Palace complex. The beautifully landscaped gardens are full of fountains and statuary that is fun to admire while you are relaxing amongst the paths of flowers and bushes. It is a nice place to just sit and admire its beauty.

A bit confused with this one.
Are the gardens free to enter AND open every day of the week?
Is it the Palace that is only open on Saturdays and Sundays?
Written 25 June 2019
The gardens are free to walk through every day (not sure about winter). They do close at night. I'm not sure what the hours are, but it would seem that as long as the sun is shining, the gardens are open.
Written 13 August 2019
Are the gardens open over Christmas. I always thought they were closed in the winter but TA says it is open today. Cheers.

Where is the entrance? (Is there one on the West side as well?)
Written 23 June 2016
The two entrances available, but the easiest entrance is right beside Metro stop Malostranska. You can also get there by street car location Klarov (it is not Malostranske namesti tram stop).
Walk all length of the gardens, see the ceiling above the stage and WALL on left side by aviary. Enjoy.
