If you are visiting the tower, make sure you are carrying at least 210 Czech crowns per person (150 for the ticket and 60 if you want to take the lift). They do not accept euros or cards, which was really frustrating as I was short on czk and was carrying euros. The view is definitely worth the whole exhausting trip that we took to reach the tower. It’s located at quite a height, so there’s a really long uphill route (carrying water is recommended).

There is a small tram that will take you to the top, it only cost £1 to get up ( 25 crown ) Or you could walk!
Once at the top you can climb the tower, similar looking to Eiffel Tower in Paris but a miniature version. There are just shy of 300 step to take you to the top. It was very cold and windy on the day we decided to do it. The view were definitely worth it! We spend about 45 minutes at the top taking photos from all angles. There is a lift but we decided to be brave! ( or stupid)

A must do, as the views are fantastic. There’s also a few very nice coffee shops where you can grab a cake and a beer after the climb!
There is a small fee to go up the tower, which was a few pounds each- definitely worth it.

We visited Petrin on a Sunday morning, it is easy to get to via the funicular which costs 60 CZK or is part of the travel pass. The hill offers incredible views of the city and on the day we visited it was 'Love Day' which traditionally means having a kiss under a Cherry Blossom Tree with your partner and venturing up the hill to the Macha statue. Whether it is love day or not don't miss out on the views.

I paid 24 CZK for a 30 min ticket. I stayed 5 min on the top before I went down. When I got down two rude and dumb security guys told me to pay 800 CZK cause I only had a 30 min ticket. When I left I heard the security guys laughing behind my back. The only good thing about the stay is that the fee is worth about nothing for me, when the losers of security guys are working there for the rest of their lifes.

Walking up the Petrin hill or taking the Funicular , is a personal decision, but be forewarned, it is a very steep climb to the top.

Start on the bottom where the fruit tree orchard is and nice and modern kids playground, also the American Embassy and the Funicular.

If you choose to walk, there are statues along the way. Karel Hynek Macha, famous Czech poet deserves mention. You can stop to rest at the terraced restaurant Nebozizek for the best views about half way up the hill.

Going all the way to Rozhledna and the Rose garden is worth doing. Kids may enjoy The Planetarium and Bludiste ( Mirror Hall) .
And if you still have any energy left you can cross over from there all the way to the Castle . You will be rewarded with great views along the way.

We have done the trek many times on foot or Funicular, in all seasons and enjoyed it always

The Funicular is a good choice for the less athletic tourists , perhaps with a stop midway at Nebozizek restaurant.

Growing up on Mala Strana, Petrin park was a very important part of my childhood. A safe playground. It has not changed much over the years .
Still a favorite of mine .....

Take the funicular up the hill and then go up Petrin tower for spectacular views right across the city. I'd say the gardens are beautiful in summer. Well cared for and maintained.
Tower is a metal structure that even has a tiny lift in the middle if you dont fancy the climb!

Visited Petrin on our last full day in Prague. We took the tram to the bottom and hiked up to the tower. It was a steep and slippery climb in places but well worth it and not too bad if you just take it slow. The tower is relatively inexpensive- although we did cheat and pay extra to get the lift to the top. Couldn’t face the 250+ steps after the hike. The view is pretty spectacular- you can see all of Prague even on an overcast day. Word to the wise, for anyone afraid of heights this is probably not the place for you - esp on a windy day as the tower was swaying a bit. This is a must see whilst in Prague.

The tallest of the hills of Prague, Petrin Hill is comprised of parks, and nearly entirely covered in trees. Thus it can be hard to get views of the city, depending on the route up that one takes. However, when the summit of the hill is reached, there is a large tower, inspired by, but not modelled on, the Eiffel Tower, that will allow people a chance to see the city as a whole. A medieval wall, called the Hunger Wall, runs up the hill, and there are gardens and an observatory to see as well.

The other big hill overlooking the city, there are several things to do at the top along with panoramic views of the city. You can take a funicular up, which is a quick easy ride to the top. There are gardens, a carousel, a mirror, maze, an observation tower, a few cafés, and other activities. We paid to climb to the top of the tower, which provided panoramic views of Prague castle, and the city below.
