An interesting piece of history

A prominent tower standing in the middle of a crowded street in the old town, most certainly worth a visit

The history behind it is very interesting, the building itself is magnificent and plays a big part in the beautiful-ness (it's a new word) of the place. It's a common meet place and is visible during tours etc. Would highly recommend viewing it, it's beautiful !

A good amount of information of the different uniforms used by the castle guards throughout the years. Give it twenty minutes to go though it.

Enter to the tower's staircase straight from the street through a small door and midway up there is a level to buy the tickets to the top floor. The staircase is fairly steep and narrow but not too bad. Nothing special going on upstairs, a nice and safe walkway around the tower and lots of places to snap a selfie... More

Take note of the powder tower as it is at the entrance of the old town, and often a meeting place for walking tours, etc.

In your face, high Gothic architecture with gold embellished statues and figurines in all high up alcoves

The Powder Tower is absolutely beautiful. You have to just stand there and examine the architecture to appreciate this sight and it's glory. I like to study the stonework and all the little details. Don't just walk past but stop and take it all in. It's worth it.

I did not have the time to go up but it is so lovely right in the middle of the city with amazing view at night. It is also a great landmark, even helps you to find your way :)

This is tower is a ideal place for getting your bearings of the old town. If you are feeling fit and the crowds are not too bad you can climb the numerous steps, for a small fee, to the top of the tower

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
