we really enjoyed this museum, there are exhibits for everyone. i personally like history so i skipped the nature parts. we bought tickets online in advance so we didn't have to wait to get in. we only left two hours for the museum and it definitely was not enough time.

Get there early. We chose to go on a rainy day we got there early and noticed they stop people coming in at capacity. There's a clockroom downstairs with lockets which is convenient, the lockers take a 10kck coin or there's tockens available free of charge. The building itself is stunning. The way round is a but confusing at first but there is an app you can download. There's lots to see and we spent about 2 & 1/2 hours looking round. The price is reasonable for the size of the museum and how long we spent there.

Large Czech museum at end of Wenceslas street. Complicated entry system. We were told by guide at the entrance to buy a certain ticket to go everywhere but then found it only gave us entry to one floor ! The ticket sellers were very unhelpful and unfriendly. When I asked to exchange my ticket for a more expensive one he just brushed me away. His manner was appalling. Lighting inside is poor and often dazzles the artwork so it is hard to view. It gives a good account of the history and struggles in the 1400's but staff are very unhelpful throughout. We did however get some very good explanations from fellow visitors. For the main museum of Prague we expected it to be free or reasonable but it is expensive for what you see.

Beautiful building located at the top of Wenceslas Square. Inside the building is just as beautiful but the displays are not easily signposted. When we went in there were a lot of visitors and the staff were very busy. The stairs and walls are very impressive but better signposting would have been more useful. We’d hit lucky and stumbled across the Baroque and Rococo Exhibition we’d paid extra for online at the back of the ground floor first. The items were impressive, the arrows guiding you round were limited and we went off into a room on the left which was less crowded and cooler after attempting to go through the room to the right, not sure if this mattered? Some of items were badly lit. Would it damage the glass if it was lit with an led? You had to read the signage (fortunately everything was in Czech and English) to see what the engravings were as you couldn’t make them out in the dim lighting. Some of the signage was really low and you had to bend over to read them, overall poor presentation of an interesting exhibition. We then decided to climb to the top and work our way down, we went into cupola which was well worth seeing as the 360 views of the city from that high up were well worth it. Also the glass floor so you can see the ceiling of the floor below was very well designed. The Natural History section was well done however again a few arrows would have been helped do you walk up one side then down the other? This freestyle viewing would be fine if you lived here and could visit regularly as you could revisit the bits you missed but there was a lot of information and standing and reading everything to understand took up a lot of time, I was still on the first room while my partner had raced round the lot, not reading much so it will depend on how you absorb information and what you’re most interested in seeing, I would recommend the Natural History Museum in London for a better experience. There was a nice cafe in the atrium however the card reader wasn’t working and they were only taking cash, which may have explained why there weren’t more people in there, we had a Bailey’s coffee and an Austrian coffee and they were delicious and an excellent pick me up after trawling up and down the stairs. Overall well worth a visit, especially if it’s raining otherwise there are more interesting buildings and museums to see in Prague.

I wanted to see archaeology but never found any! Fossils were well displayed but there was no geological timeframe. Early history had some interesting objects but pretty disappointing for a national museum. Fair enough, there was a lot of Czech history, but that was not interesting for this tourist. The ‘buffet’ was just a small counter with a few sandwiches and cakes and very limited seats (lots of people sat on the floor). Mobile ticket bought in advance worked on and off.

A brilliant way to spend half a day in Prague. Interesting for musuem buffs but also grand architecture, nice paintings and fascinating statues. It's worth taking your time to go around.
