This lovely little museum about the work of Karel Zeman is a lot of fun. It's located very close to the Charles Bridge and is a great way to spend an hour or so. It's certainly very kid friendly with a lot of interactive activities including a green screen filming that had us in fits if giggles. For the adults,... More

We went to see this museum since we study animation and we loved the interactive attractions, however most of the museum is of course focused on walls of texts about Mr. Zeman and his filmmaking, with screens showing scenes from his movies. It's a good exhibition despite being quite small for the price, but be prepared to be in a... More

Really unique museum dedicated to the film maker Karel Zeman. It's a cool place to learn about Zeman and the innovative techniques he used, and it's made even more fun by the interactive exhibits. You can touch everything except the clothes, so this would be a great place to take kids.

On eventually finding the museum it proved to be a fascinating journey through the surreal imagination behind Zeman's extraordinary and eccentric films (which are on sale on DVD at the museum and highly recommended). The only place where you can operate what appears to be a line engraving of a 19th century machine! Plenty to do and we loved putting... More

This museum is indeed a hidden gem, like another reviewer wrote. If you have trouble finding it, you will see the sign pointing toward the museum when walking over the Charles Bridge toward the city centre. This a great attraction for children or anyone who can appreciate Burton-like visually enchanting movies. It's incredible how Zeman created these special effects with... More

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, we are a tiny museum, but full of film tricks and interactive parts where you can discover the world of Karel Zeman's fantasy. We are happy that you enjoyed even the bathroom. ☺ More

Very nice, cosy, and friendly museum. Great place for a little escapism from the crowdiness of Prague 1.

Thank you for taking your time for the review. We love to hear about our great musem. :) You're right, it is a big influence on Terry Gilliam, who described it in the Film Adventurer Karel Zeman. I highly recommend the document from 2015! More

This is tucked away at the Mala Strana end of the Charles Bridge and it's a shame it's not better known to tourists. It's such a cute museum; really well laid out and interesting whether you love film history or you just enjoy fun films. There's lots for adults to enjoy and it's particularly well thought out for children. My... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
