The only professional English-language classical theatre company in the Czech Republic. Residing in a beautiful Baroque Palace in the heart of the city with a multinational cast, the PSC fills a void in Prague's arts and expat community by presenting dramatic works - classical as well as modern - that are fresh, vibrant and engaging. I heard that this small company puts on really excellent productions. But I must say that the quality of the performance exceeded my expectations. Titus is a difficult play - the violence is so frequent, bloody and varied that it can seem grotesque - like a Tarentino movie (without the self-awareness). What do you do with such a play -... This is the real deal, folks - an innovative, interesting theatre group performing interesting interpretations of Shakespeare (and other authors) for a very reasonable price. A very worthwhile thing to do when in town and looking for a break from the beer and pork knuckle. WAY better than any of the "traditional" black light theatre in town. And yes, I... More

We went to see Much Ado About Nothing a couple of weeks ago and were completely blown away! The PSC adapts one of Shakespeare's most beloved plays, setting it during a WWII BBC radio show. We thought it was brilliant- hilarious and dramatic in all the right spots. The acting was well-done and professional and clearly the actors were enjoying... More

The performance we went to was Much Ado About Nothing, the difference being that this is the same story but set in World War II. The venue is pretty small i.e. our performance seated about 75 people and some of the bigger sets mean less than 50 people can watch. You are right under the roof of the Kolowrat Palace... More

I have been to two performances and both have been really excellent. Tucked away in the roof of this palace, the small theatre produces intimate performances as you are always close to the actors. All actors have been of the highest standards and the performances creative and enjoyable. Book early as the tickets sell quickly.

We were fortunate enough to see a performance of "Macbeth" at the Prague Shakespeare Company during our recent October stay in the city. Powerful performances, and incredible use of the very intimate space. An amazing evening!

I went to see Shiner at Prague Shakespeare Company and it was great! The theater itself was intimate, maybe 50 seats at the most, but they did so much with props! They also offer student tickets with ISIC. After the performance I was able to hangout in the basement bar with the cast and crew! Shiner was a bit dark,... More

Thanks to a friends recommendation, I was able to experience one of the best plays I've seen yet. Shiner. A wonderful production that held my attention the entire time. The atmosphere was vibrant and the people were great. You could feel the passion the cast had for their work and the company. Truly a quality production, I wish I could... More

I am staying in Prague for the summer and have always been a fan of theatre so when I heard about an english speaking company I was thrilled. I learned they were doing a debut performance of a new play called "Shiner" so I purchased a ticket for 200 krowns (which was discounted because I'm a student) and it was... More

If you're looking for a reasonably priced, local theatre with English plays, this is the place!!! The theatre is in the Divadlo Kolowrat near the Estates Theatre (in the theater district). It was in the attic so very visually aesthetic and quaint. I saw the European premier of "Shiner," which is an two-person American play about 90's grunge kids. The... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
