The area
Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Located on Malostranske Namesti, arguably one of the most beautiful square's in Prague and Located in Malostranske Beseda Galeria which is the most beautiful building on the square is Malostranska Beseda, a classic Czech pub I always enjoy visiting on any holiday I take to this fascinating city.
A great looking pub ,interior is superb, a great looking serving bar dominates the main room, wonderful decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a great watering hole.
We were here on a Monday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we ordered pints of beer from Pilsner Urquell Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our beers.
A big fan of this most famous of Czech beers, served with the big foamy head so characteristic of the way Czech beer is poured, its a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this pub, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with beers served in this good a condition.
We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Malostranska Beseda we had a great beer experience.
Malostranska Beseda is easy to locate on Malostranske Namesti.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11pm.
Well worth checking out if you're in the Lesser Town ( Mala Strana ) of Prague.

A wonderful atmosphere. Friendly service. We ordered fried Gouda cheese with fried potatoes, tartar sauce and Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast. Very tasty, the chicken fillet is juicy. The price for an order with drinks is very good. Let's come again.

This appears to be popular place with the locals as well as the tourists who manage to find it. We found it via Yelp app ratings.
Half of the patrons drink only. The other half also order food. There are only 12 tables and one large group table with several areas for standing room / bar only. As a result, when they have advanced reservations, the number of available walk-in tables can be few - so keep this in mind if you are planning to go during peak dinner hours.
The service is quick which is good and bad. The food comes out quick, but the waiter just wants to quickly seat you, serve you bread, take your order, and get you to pay. No small talk. No welcome. Not even bothering to push the specials of the day. But both times we went for dinner, the server did take the time to emphasize in a very slow and deliberate manner - when delivering the check to us - that the “service tip was not included in the price”. I felt this was a bit insulting given how transactional ALL the waiters were throughout the meal. And so we just tipped 10% which I felt was MORE than generous. If they want a 15% tip, I do expect them to at least ask me how my meal was OR at least say “welcome” and/ or “thank you” for dining with us.
Nevertheless, the duck dish was good and the portion was generous. The atmosphere is lively and informal in a good way.

As we just arrived in Prague for a long weekend and were quite tired, the concierge of our Hotel advised for this restaurant, quite casual, at a walking distance from our Hotel in Malo Strana, not far from Charles Bridge.
It was Friday night and local people mainly drinking bear and chattering among themselves, so we had to wait quite a long time to be seated crowded it. Anyway there weren’t tourists: a very genuine Prague atmosphere, food and bier good, and personnel very kind.
As I appreciated this restaurant, I was there a second time during my stay in Prague and as this time was in the middle of the week, the Restaurant was not as crowded as the previous time so we did not have to wait to be seated. My wife had a succulent Goulash and I had veal cheeks with potatoes and fresh spinach. If you are searching for a nice restaurant with good local Czech food, and atmosphere, and you are close to Charles Bridge I really would like to recommend this genuine place, by the way with very reasonable price

Malostranská Beseda was one of the many pubs/bars and restaurants we visited on a ten day holiday in Prague. This is one of the most traditional Czech places we visited in Malá Strana and one of the best.
Located on Malostranské Náměsti'this pub and restaurant has a superb interior that's got many interesting fixture's and feature's and superb seating options throughout it's whole interior and was a joy to visit.
It's very atmospheric and this brilliant area of Prague has many places like this and it's one of the reasons me and my twin brother visit this superb area of Prague. On our trip to here we had Pilsner Urquell beer's which were served in perfect condition and were really well priced.

Had drinks here a few times during recent visit as it was close to our hotel. Good place to sit and watch the comings and goings on the square. Beer was good. Ate here one evening and can highly recommend the local czech speciality of beef in a creamy sauce with cranberries

The food here was good, at least the meat dishes. The fish was gross. Staff was super rude at first as well as we were getting a table.

Each time I’m visiting Prague with friends MB is on my list “where to eat”. Absolutely perfect Czech meals and good beer.
My favorite from their menu is duck and goulash soup.
And prices. As for city center very low.

Sat down for dinner on new years eve with my girlfriend. The place was crowded as expected and very loud. The food took a long time to arrive and tasted average.
The staff looked tired and annoyed throughout. Not a bad place, but not the best of Prague by a long shot.

I asked at the front desk of my hostel about a nearby restaurant with local beer. This was their recommendation. Nice place, right at the tram stop, great people watching, delicious food, cold beer. I went back for lunch the next day!
