Whenever I'm in European cities I seek out the old movie houses. It's a great way to break away from the standard tourist path, relax, and be immersed in a historic setting that still functions like a regular place. You get away from the architecture and object as a museum or artifact, and into the flow of culture that is... More

We watched Star Wars Rogue One after Christmas at Lucerna. It is nicely located by the Wenceslas Square, and the gallery Lucerna is also where Wenceslas on his upside down horse can be found. The cinema room upstairs is small, but cosy and has comfortable seats. Prices for movie tickets are good.

Should you fancy a movie while in Prague, stay away from the city cinema and go to see a movie at the Lucerna passage. Our hotel thankfully recommended this place and we are grateful they did! The cinema has two rooms and the bigger of the two is situated in one of Prague's eldest theaters. It was a wonderful atmosphere... More

Really nice place. Go in just to see the hanging horse from the top. Great interior if you visit the cinema! The cafe on the first floor was full I think it is a place I will visit again. The Italian lover was great (the film)

This place has a marvelous atmosphere and always great selections of movies. Most of the movies festivals happen here as well. The building itself is very old and was center of many significant historical events. Worth visiting.

Very fancy-looking theater that isn't crazy expensive (though not super cheap, either). It looks absolutely gorgeous inside, and the lighting is great. Right at the entrance to the theater, there's the statue of King Wenceslas riding what appears to be a dead horse. Great photo opportunity. :P

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
