The eleven-metre-high statue is a 21st-century technical marvel of Prague. Forty-two moving panels form the face of the great Czech writer Franz Kafka. The statue by David Cerny stands at the Quadrio shopping centre and combines art with modern technologies and the traditional "golden hands" of Czech craftsmen. Watch the Metamorphosis, wait for the right alignment of the panels and discover Kafka!

I’m not sure when I have spent 20 minutes looking at a sculpture. This giant moving head of Kafka is so unique and mesmerizing that it simply envelops you. Watch the ground as the sculpture moves the light plays across the pavement. There are two...More

We came here and waited for 15 minutes thinking every top of hour it moves. It didn't. We asked the wait staff at the cafe next to it, they say to go inside the mall info desk to get the times. The desk gave us...More

We stood by this amazing piece of art for some time, watching it rotate. It bothered our guide Kristian (Prague Local Firends) because part of the movement was not in sync.

The head did not move but was frozen in time. Lots of effort to locate the sculpture and found out it wasn’t working.

We were on a Prague sculpture hunt, and this head statue of Franz Kafka by David Cerny was about the best of all the art pieces we had seen. Towering above our heads in the courtyard of Quadrio shopping centre, the different parts that make...More

Our group of six had many laughs trying to get a picture snapped before the head started turning and rearranging itself.

Stumbled upon this...constantly changing & well worth standing & watching all the changes as the different 'slices' rotate

Loved this statue. Not many people were stopping, not sure why. It rotates most of the time, very striking, beautiful when all is lined up. Well worth the stop.

Like lots of the artwork in Prague, it is worth understanding the story behind them. We took a personal walking tour of the Old Town which gave us a complete insight 'off the beaten track'
