Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

in 1984 when CZ was still communist its beauty was under a layer of grime and neglect. Wow. What a difference 4 decades have made. I have to applaud the Czechs industriousness. This is a big and beautiful square with decente shops and good restaurants. Very good for a few hours to relax, have beer or coffee.

Picture perfect square in the middle of this small town, as if time stood still. The facades on the centuries old buildings are beautifully restored, each is different and worth taking a picture. Small stores are sort of hidden under the fronts of those buildings.
We spend one day in September here and the town appeared very quiet, certainly not overrun by tourists. We visited the State Chateau of Telc and the adjoining beautiful park, that is right next to the city's historical center. We climbed to the top of the church's tower and walked around the observation deck (well over a hundred very steep steps) and we were very glad we did it. We were awarded with breathtaking views.
Later we took a break at a small ice-cream place called Jadran with delicious ice-cream and pastries and very friendly service.
Paid parking was easy to find, very close to the town center. Cars are not allowed in the center of town. At the end we still had enough time left to drive and visit Castle Lipnice.

Fantastic spot to stop and catch your breath. Don't miss the walk around the lake, a fantastic spot to stop and best coffee is Cafe/Hotel Telc 20 m off the main square. Gorgeous little shops to browse through and great cycling for the more active.

So many visitors to the Czech Republic rarely venture very far from Prague. This is sad because the Republic is full of wonderful little towns, and one them Telc. This beautifully restored UNESCO site is a joy to wander as I have found on several occasions. A bird's eye view of the town and its surroundings is made possible by the tower near the church at the top of the square.
But if you haven't the use of a car, the 4 hour train ride from Prague is a pleasant experience in itself and also very inexpensive compared with most of Western Europe. If you decide to try this method, it might be a good idea to investigate a day or two before at Prague Main Stn (Praha hl.n.) and it's no more than ten mins walk from the Museum on Wenceslas square. The train is an early one so already having a ticket could help.

We stayed in Telc for 2 days, use as a base to go to different towns around (Trebon and Trebic).
The town itself looks like the decoration for the movie. It worse to spend a day or two there.

The (almost car free) town square when you've walked past the fishponds and through one of the gates into the town is quite a sight. As this is a little off the beaten track, so few crowds, though there will be the occasional Japanese coach passing through.
Plenty of restaurants and bars to sit and enjoy the view (fewer in winter).

We took the bus from Brno to Telc. The square is beautiful with lots of colored buildings. The main problem for me is that a significant number of the cars visiting Telc park in the square. Really takes away from the authenticity of the square.

The nice square with lots of parking cars. In the arcade a number of small shops mostly selling poor quality unnecessaries. Local gastronomy is scary.
For local citizens is characteristic reluctance and ignorance, which is reflected in all services.

Was there only for a few hours as we were at a Spa resort nearby. The town square is colorful and postcard picture perfect and we found an afternoon was plenty time to visit and stop for lunch. Recommend - Cafe Friends for lunch, daily menu was great, CZ food with a twist. Also the decor, especially the lighting was exceptional as it was all from CZ lighting designer Brokis - each piece an original functional piece of art.

Telč is a small town located in the southern part of Bohemia in the area called Vysočina. As you pass through this region it breathes on you the atmosphere of smaller hills with plenty of ponds in their valleys.
The hills are still low enough to get they roads here with a bicycle even at an older age. Definitely I would not miss a beautiful Linden alley, which, like all the surrounding ways, gives you a sense of silence and tranquility in the picturesque countryside. It is simply a gentle touch of romance.
And here above all excells one of the most romantic squares in Bohemia and Moravia, surrounded by a castle, its garden with tall trees and several ponds, which create in the city an unmistakable center. Just come in and find yourself in a different dimension - in a dimension in which all time periods have been unified into one, immensely romantic whole.
From stone paving blocks is still reflected the echo from the horse-drawn carriages, and in the underpass of renovated houses characteristic of your own style, you go through centuries of European history.
It can not be described well enough, it needs to try it yourself. Actually, just come, stop, order some coffee or ice cream in one of the cafes and let yourself be carried away with your feeling.
I guarantee, that it is worth it ...

It took about 3 hours. (Along the way, there was a bathroom break)
