If you are Staying for 4 days or more in Prague, I recommend you to spend a day in Terezin! There are many reasons for that: 1) because it's a historical site. 2) because you can visit a concentration camp and a former ghetto which hasn't changed so much through the years. 3) it's pretty cheap 4) rather close to... If you want to see how man can be so inhuman to his fellow man, this concentration camp/ghetto fits the bill. From the gas chambers to the crematoria one sees the horrors of WW2 inflicted on innocent people. Very sobering and thought provoking. When we were there there was an exhibition of paintings done by prisoners, very traumatic paintings. If... More

Took a private tour to visit Terezin concentration camp when we visited Prague. Well worth the approximate 45 minute drive (64 km) north thru the Czech Republic countryside. Originally built in late 1700's, was expanded by Hitler's regime during WW-2 to hold Jewish prisoners. The tour has a very extensive museum documenting its history and the large well preserved prison... More

We were fortunate to tour Terezin in a small group with Pavel Batel of Terezin Private Tours. An historian and author, Pavel has personally interviewed many survivors of Terezin and brings their stories to life in a respectful and powerful way. Though the visit to Terezin was sobering and thought provoking, my husband and I are so glad we went... More

Started off well, the coach left the yellow tourist box on time, but then we turned round when just out of the city to go back to the start point to pick up 2 further guests who had not had the courtesy to be at the arrival point on time. That set the tour back at least 40 mins (traffic... More

Pavel Batel is probably the leading expert on Terezin. He has written 3 books on the subject and has interviewed many survivors. Pavel's tour is worth the cost and the only way to experience the horrors of Terezin

I can't imagine visiting Terezin with anyone but Pavel. He's a storyteller that brings every room and every event to life with his unique knowledge of the history of the people and the place that is Terezin.

My husband and I strongly recommend Pavel Batel to be your next tour guide of Terezin. The historian has interviewed dozens of survivors and written various books on the Holocaust. If you want a in depth look into the victims of Terezin and a passionate guide who feels it is his responsibility to educate, look no further. He is absolutely... More

By far the best thing I experienced while visiting Prague. While visiting the camp on your own is surely impactful, I highly recommend you hire Pavel as a guide. He is so incredibly knowledgeable. Definitely the best guide I have ever toured with - you will not be disappointed.

We spent a day with Pavel Batel touring Terezin. He is a wealth of knowlege and his tour is superb. We travelled with our 20 year old daughter and it was a real eye-opener learning about the horrific events that took place here not too long ago. Don't miss this experience. Can't say enough about Pavel
