Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A gem of a find and well worth the short train or tram ride from Gdansk to Zaspa. All the artwork is located on the ends of the high rise housing estate. It is definitely not a tourist area, it's residential, so visit during the day to see in it's full glory.

Take the SKM train to Gdansk Zaspa (it's only about 10 min from Gdansk Glowny and costs 3 plz one way) and walk around the neighbourhood. If you want you can also arrange for a free guided tour. The paintings are massive and very impressive! Some are better than others but all in all this is a great way to spend a couple of hours if you are in Gdansk. I truly recommend it.

Just across the bridge from Galeria Baltycka ( a large shopping centre) just outside Gdansk there is a large area of high density tower blocks from the 1970's. The residents wanted to improve the area and artists were chosen to create large murals to decorate the end walls of the buildings. These are well worth a visit. Just as interesting is the layout of the estate with large green areas with seating between the blocks, children's playgrounds, an all weather football area and running track. On the day we visited the local people had arranged a litter pick which we happily joined as we were viewing the murals. Even more interesting were the number of people who had joined in. It was a pleasure to see people caring for the environment in which they lived

Must see in Gdansk if you also want to see something else than the old town. Just take the tram to Zaspa and stroll from one mural to the next. It does sometimes feel a bit like a maze, but if you've got gps you'll will be able to find the next one, most of the times you already see the next one. We did not do a tour, but just walked by ourselves which was already nice, but i can imagine you will get a bit more background information with a guide.

It was just amazing to walk around in the used to be an ugly neighborhood that they have tried to make nicer. What struck me most is the sheer size of the murals and the number of them. They are really everywhere! The quality varies, for sure, but some are splendid. It is also a walk that allows you to discuss the murals, including which ones you like most.
Overall, highly recommended! (And need not take a long time unless you want it to.)
Oh yes, if you are going there a cold January day make sure to dress REALLY, REALLY, warm!

This is a large housing estate, but the gable walls have been painted in a variety of dramatic designs. It is worth visiting if you like artistic graffiti or wall art. A map iavailable from tourist information contains details of the murals. They advise getting there by tram, and retuning by train. This means you can walk from the tram, through the estate, and end up at the train station without the need to retrace your steps.

This is a vast high rise complex, and some of the murals are absolutely enormous! Most of the work are well executed, some downright glorious. The one that struck me the most was the one with "Future was here" tagline, presumably in reference to many setbacks Poland suffered in modern history.
Visiting this place also gives you a taste of how ordinary Polish people live. You are very much aware that you're a bit intruding into someone's livelihood and living space, so I hope the place doesn't get too wildly popular to the point of nuisance to its residents.
Grab the map though. I didn't realize I had missed half of the murals until I started flipping through other people's photos here!

4 stops and 10 minutes on the train from Gdansk, exit the station and turn left the housing estate is right in front of you. Guided tours only run during the summer months but you can pick up a map and small guide from one of the tourist information centres in Gdansk and do it on your own. Its a huge site with 60+ murals on the sides of the housing blocks which are set around a park, its a very chilled out place to wander around. We didn't see all of them as there is a lot of walking between the blocks but what we saw was great.

The hostel staff recommended visiting Zaspa and although it seemed a little unconventional, I'm glad we did. It's an easy 10 minute train journey out of Gdasnk głowny and the murals were really interesting. Although the area isn't the most built-up or tourist friendly, we also stumbled upon a cute little food market. Nice way to spend an afternoon, even when you're hungover!

Most reviews talk about the Wall Art. I was more impressed by the social fact. They took a neighborhood of the lower class and they made it a unique and interesting place for the people living there. Gave them something to be proud of and by the way attracts visitors as well..
Not a single tourist would have come to Zaspa if there were no murals.
