What an amazing space and worth four times the entrance fee. Pay extra for the headphones . Wonderful
What a space. It’s huge and uses every area to really give a sense of how Gdansk and Europe were drawn into WW2. I’d recommend taking the headsets as they guide you around and the space is so big it can be a bit confusing, My favourite room was the one with the dive bomber plane. There are a few fabulous interactive screens on the right that explained WW2 and all the battles as they progressed. Pick your battle and it will show you how the armies on all sides moved across Europe. I was in that area for over an hour. I’m ashamed to say I knew very little. We spent 4 hours an I’d easily pay ( if I were on a longer trip ) again to visit. So much information and such a reasonable price. A history gem.

    Educational experience
My wife and I visited this museum and what an expierience. The museum is very informative and using the headphones for additional info were very good value. The price and displays on show make it very good value, we enjoyed it so much it took 4 hours to look around. I would definitely recommend this museum when you visit the beautiful city of Gdańsk

    A thorough museum
A very thorough, though difficult, museum. A lot of information to take in. Have now realised that I missed part of the museum- so sad! Not sure where I should have gone after finishing the main floor exhibit after the terror section. I would have liked to have seen more accessible spaces for those who cannot stand for long periods of time. The main seats were away from the exhibit in the main corridor. There were points when I would have liked to pause but felt unable to as there were few seating spaces.

    Excellent quality and value
Fantastic purpose- built museum. Very high quality displays with a mix of objects, film, sound, installations and even some art pieces. £5.50 for a ticket which was incredible value for how much there was on offer. Learnt a lot

One of the best museums ever!
This is easily one of if not the best museum I've ever been to. Tickets are around £5.50 per person which is unbelievably reasonable! Audio guides are available and the museum is laid out really well and very clear for most languages. We were blown away with how experiential the place is - walking down 'old Polish streets' and sitting in a 'Soviet cinema' to watch excerpts of films - brilliant! Make sure you get there early. We queued around 15 minutes to get in, but we definitely didn't give ourselves enough time and were eventually asked to leave when the museum was closing meaning we missed sections. We would 100% go back and hope to in the future.

    A must visit!
This is an absolute must-see in Gdańsk! Such a good museum, it has been shaped so well! Do make sure that you have a couple of hours to walk through the museum, because there is so much to see and read! All in all, the visualisation blew me away and I would recommend this to everyone who is interested in history (of the city or of WWII) :)

    Insightful museum visit
This was maybe the best historic museums I’ve ever visited. Not only is the building impressive but the way the tragic story of WWII is depicted and shown is critical, well researched and has plenty of material - objects, film and text. This museum should be on everyone’s to do list for Gdańsk!

    Quick Visit to the Museum
Really enjoyed our trip to the Museum, which cost next to nothing. A lot of information on the second world war and maybe a little too much information on some topics, all in all had a great time wondering around. The building is impressive, clean and staff are helpful and friendly.

    Thought provoking
We chose to have an audio guided tour which worked by GPS. Every time you stepped over the threshold of a room the commentary kicked in. When the commentary for that particular room finished you were given time to browse and were told which room to head for next. The tour took about 1.5 hours. We didn't look at any of the temporary exhibits as we were a bit 'museumed' out after the audio tour. We did stop for coffee which was good. Clean toilets.

    You have to visit!
What an amazing museum, the audio tour was informative, interesting and kept me totally engaged with all on display. There is so much to see and it is so well done. It takes a good three hours to see it all and I almost wished I could have opted for a weekend ticket and split the tour over a few days. It’s not an easy journey through the various exhibitions but I honestly believe everyone should visit the museum to see the futility of war.

Unreal museum. So much history in one place. As a fan of this period, I was amazed by the way this era was portrayed. A lot can be learned and seen. Everything is very neat and orderly, so you can't skip anything. The museum is very crowded, so be prepared to be patient to see some of the exhibits. The ticket is around 4 euros and you can buy it directly there because there are a lot of counters and they are very fast. Also, you have free lockers to leave your things so that you can comfortably enjoy the museum.

So much to see it is almost fatiguing.. i would focus on the things you do not know.. i would brush thru the beginning. About Mussolini and fascism. Stalin, etc. however I was intrigued to know his adopted name Stalin means man of steel.. for me the real interesting parts started in room 10? The one that says terror. I would skim thru the first parts and focus on the last bits. There are like 16 rooms or more. The videos were impactful. About the women and their subject to brothels. Which i had never thought of before. I adore museums but this was almost too much. Definitely a must see but save some time for the later exhibits. The high street before and after was intriguing. I spent 4.5 hours in there and it was amazing.. just plan your time because attention span decreases and it is horrifying. Seeing the libration of the camps and soldiers bring out the nearly dead people. Just gruesome.. i think the starvation resonated to me.. i can’t believe people can do this to another human.. I think it is a must see whilst here in Gdansk

Very educational and extremely intense history of WWII. Mr H and I spent 3 hours here and could have spent longer but I found it very intense and difficult going at times because of the mass of information. If I’d give any advice it would be give yourself plenty of time. We went on a Saturday morning and found it very busy I’d advise booking online or you will end up in a long line for tickets. You can leave your coats for free in the cloakroom but will pay for a locker for other items. There is a small cafe as well. The exhibition is easy to follow and I advise paying for the audio guide to allow you to follow everything.

A must visit in Gdańsk whether you’re into History or not. So informative - there was so much to read and see which covered all of ww2. Definitely give yourself a morning or afternoon for this - I read somewhere it was 2 hours but it’s definitely 3-4 if not longer - we had to leave early as we didn’t allow ourself enough time. Great for all ages to learn a very important part of history

Very interesting museum about world war 2, it is very comprehensive and not only explains in detail the events ofww2 but also how and why it came about. I has a small cafe that sells food and drinks as well a souvenir shop.

excellent museum in unusual modern building. Well worth visiting if you are in Gdansk.
Almost too much to see in a couple of hours but don't be put off.
Exhibits are well presented and there is a mass of information available about the causes and duration of the war.
Don't miss it. Then you can walk back along the river bank although there is some building work at the moment which limits some parts of the bank. It will be great when its done.

I would say this is a must see when in Gdansk. Very informative, interestingly displayed rooms.
It is a bit haphazard in it's layout so you have to be methodical so as not to miss some displays / rooms.

An excellent museum with lots to see and explore across several different floors. In fact, from surface level you only see about half of the building as several floors lie below. It is a very modernist building, feels much like a bunker when inside, without the claustrophobia, given there is so much space to move round.

The kiosk for tickets is easy to find. Staff have excellent knowledge of several different languages including English. I was recommended to use a locker, and the staff member provided me a coin to put my coat and bag in. The audio guide is definitely recommended! It gives a lot more information, and is easy to use. In fact, it automatically detects the section of the exhibition you are in and plays the corresponding audio for it (you can replay as well as go forward or back on the device if you want). They provide wired headphones for the audio guide, but they are certainly well used and only 1 side was working with the set I was given.

The exhibition is organised thematically as well as sequential, from the start of the Second World War to its end, via a long central corridor with large exhibition spaces 'halls' each side. There is a room on propaganda, weapons of war, and others. Some halls have been entirely done up as huge dioramas which you can walk through such as a pre-war Czech city street, which then you get to walk through again as it was in 1945. Quite the difference. You go follow each hall in sequence as they are next to each other, but you always return/cross to the central corridor if you need a break (seating is provided here).

I was impressed that it doesn't solely focus on Poland's experience of the second world war, but rather focuses on the entire European conflict (although there is reference to objects and subject matter where relevant applicable to Poland). I should mention there is smaller coverage of the pacific war, and the atom bomb too, the latter you walk through an entirely bright white room with the bomb mock up directly above you with surround sound of the explosion. The museum does an excellent job here of helping us, and in some cases forcing us, to reflect on war.

There is so much to see lots of objects interactives, audio visual desks and screens - you can spend hours here. In fact I spent, nearly 4 hours lasting right up until closing. I definitely wouldn't give yourself anything less than 2.5 hours purely to see the exhibition area. The shop has lots of decent items for purchase too, including a map of Westerplatte, which I recommend picking up if you are thinking of visiting this area.

It is definitely one of the top museums to visit in Poland and I would argue one of the best war museums in Europe.
