This mid age old town has its charms, especially around the castle, but ... still expected more variety in different dining places. Somehow we did not like that we had to search for long time a place WITH local cuisine, as asian and american style ones were overwhelming.

Olsztyn old town has a few pearls. You'll find castle in which he lived Nicolaus Copernicus, the Cathedral of St. James, the Evangelical Church, Old Town Hall, High Gate and Museum Gazeta Olsztyn. Modern attractions include Amphitheatre them. Czeslaw Niemen, revitalized park on the river Lyna, "Brewery Warmia" built in a charming spot at the foot of the castle (on... More

This is not the first time I have visited Olsztyn but, no matter what, we always take some time to visit the old centre. It is a pretty place, well restored and preserved. This part of Poland seems to feel ambivalent about its recent past and reluctant to recognise that it has only been Polish since 1945. So what? Even... More

We stopped here on our way up north, we parked in Aura mall very near all the attractions. From there we headed to the tourist information to get a map. We walked around following the map and looked at the restored buildings. Id say you need around 3 hours top for that. We didnt find anything intersting to eat. It... More

Small but charming Old Town. Townhouses neat. Purely. A lot of restaurants and beer gardens. A good indication of the streets. Really nice view of the park and amphitheater. Recommendable museum Warmińskie.

Worth a visit. I have seen this town developing over the last 10 years. Friendly people. English is widely spoken amongst young people.

The old town itself is not as nice as in some other Polish towns probably because all the EU money was spent in the adjacent parks. The building of the hostel next to the stara brama deserves to be torn down.

My wife is from Olsztyn and it is like a second home to me. The old town is very beautiful, clean and has loads of good bars and restaurants. If you wander the backstreets you will find some real gems too. The best time to visit is in the spring or summer, when there are an abundance of places to... More
