Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just a memorial - but a not-to-be forgotten reminder of the past! Hidden away close to a street market and near a shopping centre. A tribute to those who went before us.

An essential visit if you want to know about the history of the Town. Extremely moving but surrounded by the colourful market, which shows how life must go on.

This monument reads "This memorial is to honour Jews who were killed in 1939-45 by Germans and in this place there was a Synagogue was completely destroyed in September 1939."
The synagogue was thought by some to be the most beautiful building in the city. It could seat 1,000. Quoting from InYourPocket "On the day the Germans invaded Poland in 1939 there were somewhere between 9,000 and 13,000 Polish and German Jews living in Katowice. Most were sent to Auschwitz via the Zagłębie (Sosnowiec) ghetto.

It’s very important that everyone visiting Katowice, especially Jews m, visit this monument, no matter how much it seems they try to hide it.
There are no signs leading to it. People actually sat on it while we were visiting.
Very sad and no respect.

According to the Jewish Virtual library just over 8500 Jews were living in Katowice when the Second World war began in 1939. Most of them were brutally murdered by the nazis. The small monument at the place where once the synagogue stood is hardly noticeable especially during the day when the square is covered with market stalls. On the momument there is a referral to a website with stories of those who are absent. So bring pen and paper if you are interested.

This place definitely doesn't get the respect it deserves. Surrounded by poor quality market stalls, stands forgotten and neglected, shame.

Despite location it is worth visiting. Can be found among market stalls but has some space around it. Place would deserve better recognition, but it is what it is after all.
