This is a MUST visit to keep their souls alive!

My friend and I have just come back from a 3 day visit to Poland for the first time. The major factor we wanted to go to this country was to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau. We... read more

The tip to Aushwitz was emotional as you can imagine. It was informative; But it was rushed, we didn't have time to look and read things, the tour guide was talking in front of an exhibit whilst half of the group were no where near the exhibit (we had to wear ear pieces), the guide would talk about something with... My friend and I have just come back from a 3 day visit to Poland for the first time. The major factor we wanted to go to this country was to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau. We booked through a company who took us here and then we were met by our tour guide. She was fantastic, think her name was... More

If your thinking of visiting just do it. A trip everyone should do at least once in their life. Very moving experience. If you have the time take an organised tour and learn as much as you can.

This is a must for any visitor to Krakow. I believe everyone should visit these 2 sites at least once in their lifetime. The location of the worst human atrocity in modern history is a sombre, thought provoking experience which only took place just over 70 years ago. Our English speaking tour guide was fantastic, so interesting and painted such... More

The place where 1.5 million innocent people suffered and died. Everyone should visit it once in their lives. Unfortunately we have learned nothing out of this. We still build fences and walls of shame to keep people outside. When we start hating because of different ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, immigrants, refugees, we are one step ahead of becoming monsters once... More

It's probably a given that if you're staying in Krakow that you'll visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. And you should. It's a place like no other on earth and it evokes many thoughts and emotions. The trip with Viatour was easy to organise from home, they arrived promptly at our hotel with a comfortable 14 seater mini bus. At first the outbound journey... More

I spent most of the morning crying as we walked round the barracks and blocks. Even though you know parts of what went on, actually seeing the mountains of personal possessions of those persecuted and killed during this bleak time just breaks your heart. The shoes, hair and specs were amongst the hardest for me to look at. Our guide... More

My husband and I visited Auschwitz Birkenau in Sept 16.It was a very emotional visit. To be honest I didn't know how the trip was going to be,however our guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained even the most awful information to the group with empathy and compassion.I believe this is one place that people should visit if staying in Krakow. There was... If your really interested in history or want an account of this true account then go...It is a very solemn place and in all honesty hard to believe the atrocious happenings...be prepared for shock, emotion, hatred and every other emotion possible...I felt compelled to see this for myself

Our main reason for visiting Krakow was to see for ourselves Auschwitz-Birkenau after reading so much about it. We saw movies and read books about the place but it is not the same as seeing it in real life. The atrocities that went on there, just unimaginable how such cruelty can reside in some people. It was about -1 deg... More
