- Naomi C10 contributionsNice dayThere's an option to walk up if you prefer to rather than take the cable car. Lots of nice market stalls and restaurants. Our driver peter was so helpful. He even recommend a lovely place for dinner.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 11 October 2023
- petergab10Melbourne, Australia675 contributionsWorth the experience and a visitI walked around the small market area before lining up at the ticket office to buy a return ticket on the funicular. Which also offers some great views going up and down the mountain. The mountain top offers some great views of Zakopane and the Tatras Mountains with many photo opportunities. Also, restaurants and bars, markets, gravitational slide, a small church, and a chance to try Oscypek - Polish goat cheese with cranberry jam by its side, mulled wine. Worth the experience and a visit.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 January 2024
- KTP310Reading, United Kingdom1,208 contributionsEnjoyable visit at sunsetI was glad that I timed my trip up to Gubalowka with just half an hour of daylight left. This meant I could enjoy the views in the light and then after strolling around for half an hour, I could see it all lit up in the dark. The views of Zakopane from the mountain were impressive, and the area is nice to stroll around for an hour or so, with a mulled wine!Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 12 January 2024
- Linea LinaEngland, United Kingdom23 contributionsNice place to visit just for viewLooks nice with all the light on. Beautiful view but that market on a mane road looks a bit messy. Also didn’t like that you must pay for all bathrooms , even in a bar where you drink or eat .Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 January 2024
- nick wLondon, United Kingdom1,301 contributionsVery Popular With Stunning ViewsIf possible choose visit on a clear day during the week for stunning views and fewer crowds. We visited on a Sunday and it was heaving with a long queue for the funicular ride to the viewpoint, but it was worth it. The views were sublime. There are bars and restaurants and food and souvenir stores at top. You can also book horse or snow mobile rides and go skiing etc. We brought a picnic and there are places to sit and eat your own food. Worth the wait to get up for the views alone.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 January 2024
- Lisa H6 contributionsAbsolutely beautiful views! If you’re going for the views of the snowy mountains you will not be disappointed! The markets are a bit dated and have the same items and you have to pay to use all of the toilets. There’s lots of places to eat and relax whilst looking at the views.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 April 2024
- CaseyyykcSingapore, Singapore185 contributionsBest views of the mountainsThe views are truly amazing! Funicular was easy to purchase and ride on takes around 5mins. We went in the morning at around 10am+ and it's not as crowded as near to noon. It was sunny hot but breezy. We spend around 4hrs all in including lunch and just to chill and people-watch around. But you could possibly do it under 2hrs. There's technically nothing much to do unless you have kids (with some games/activities for them) / gravitational slide. The row of roadside stalls behind selling the souvenirs & all are more or less the same stuffs. Overall, a pleasant visit for 1st timers.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 April 2024
- GBJ-CookiesSouth Shields, United Kingdom1,800 contributionsSpectacular ViewsThe whole journey takes only 5 minutes and on the day we visited the funicular was not too busy. At the bottom there is a market selling local produce and the town centre is a short 5 minute walk away. Once at the top there are some wonderful vistas of the Tatra mountains, bars, various eateries and a gravitational slide. If you like you could attempt the 40 minute walk to the top, although we visited in April, there was still a chunk of snow lying around and don't forget the temperature is slightly cooler than at the base. Prices for food and drink are slightly more expensive than elsewhere but still quite reasonable.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 April 2024
- Heidi V17 contributionsTourist shops ruin amazing natureThe view was amazing and it was a nice hike up. Took us about 30 minutes to reach the top. Would have loved to enjoy peace and nature with the view, but unfortunately the soul of this place is ruined by shops that sell plastic crap.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 June 2024
- sylvieEurope27 contributionsAmazing view.Amazing. The trolley ride was somewhat expensive priced at 39/32 zł per person, but the ride itself was easy and fast. You can also hike there without any payment. There are a lot of restaurants and shops there, and the beach faced towards the Tatra mountains was very pleasant to spend time on. We were able to sit on the deckchairs and admire the view, eating baked potatoes and ice cream. We went there twice and didn't regret a thing. Only flaw were the paid bathrooms. I recommend going to one of the restaurants because at only 1zł more they are much cleaner than the one near the exit. They also have a rope park and a lot of game centres on the top. Good spot for relaxation.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 September 2024

Unfortunately, you have to pay PLN 12 per person if you want to hike on Gubałówka. That's why, unfortunately, I only give 2 stars, the path next to the train track is private, therefore every owner will charge a fee for passing through each area !!! At the beginning they charge PLN 4 per person, and for the next stop they charge PLN 8. You will pay a total of PLN 12 per person.
Given that you can get on the train for PLN 25 up or enter Morskie Oko for PLN 6, it's not worth wasting money.

We have hiked the around 1500 m path up the Gubalowka many times before (along the train track). It is a very nice hike with about 300 height meters – but if you take the time it is also doable with even small kids. But this time we were surprised as we had to pay for the hike… like two times?!? Frist time around 100 meters up the hill = 4 PLN per person and then after a further 100 meters up the hill you have to pay again = another 4 PLN per person…? It is not the amount of money – but it is very unclear and not tourist friendly! There are no signs at the bottom (or at the top) of the hill warning you about this craziness. Apparently, there is also a free path to the Gubalowka on the right-side of the train track – I think that we will try this next time in Zakopane…
Anyways the view from the top is amazing – and you can enjoy the beautiful view of Zakopane and the Tatra mountains!!!

The location is crowded and at the top the stalls are selling cheap stuff of low quality. If you visit at the wrong time you have to wait in line for hours just to take the train to the top. This is just another over rated attraction. Zakopane has such beautiful nature and national parks to visit instead of this limited view of the city and the mountains.

My friend and I went up the cable car and the views are beautiful. It's winter so the snow definitely made the photos! Plenty of stalls/places to eat at the top. Also we went tubing which was really fun, the more goes you have the cheaper it is. Would visit again in the future.

Very fun afternoon up the mountain with our extended family. Loads to do including sledding skiing and snow tubing. Loads of great places to eat and drink, fantastic views over Zakopane. We have been up for an afternoon and evening every year for the past 3 years and always had a great time, highly recommend!

The views are spectacular. We all went snow tubing in one place at the top and loved that. It was 10zlt each. Great fun.
The ticket for the funicular is pricey considering there isn’t even a toilet at either station. I think they should provide one considering the cost (96 zlt) for 2 adults and 2 kids. You have to pay 3.50 on arrival per person for the toilet nearby

We went on somewhat cloudy day so mountains weren't completely visible. Also went on a day in early September so crowds were very low. Very peaceful place to sit, drink a beverage and read a book while enjoying mountain air and views.

If you go up by funicular, how long does it take to go back by foot? Is it possible for a 4 year old to walk that long?
Written 20 January 2020
We saw many adults walking either up or back. Not sure how it is with a child. We did this in late summer, not sure what winter would be like either. But in summer, it's fantastic.
Written 21 January 2020
Once you get the funicular, how much time do you need to see the area, before you head back down? Are 2 hours enough, or too much?
Written 3 January 2020
Agree with all answers. Not sure when you’re going as there are a lot of activities especially for children in summer time. Local people spend whole day up there. In October, we spend around 2 hrs including returned ticket for cable car, drinks, beach deckchairs (with thick jacket) absorbing the beauty of the valley.

Hi what is the name of the Gubałówka Mountain cable car? I’ve tried searching but can only find the Kasprowy Wierch Cable Car. I’ve bought a dual attraction ticket at the Bukowina spa which includes a ride on the cable car but have no idea what I’m looking for or where it’s located

You can find tickets on pkl.pl (Polish Cable Lines)

Dobrý deň.
Existuje nejaká adresa, súradnice pomocou ktorých sa dostaneme priamo k lanovke ?
Written 8 August 2019
Ahoj,
nedá sa mi sem dať odkaz z google maps ale zadaj si tam:
Polskie Koleje Linowe S.A. Stacja Dolna Gubałówka, 34-511 Zakopané, Poľsko (alebo ešte kód miesta z Google maps: 7WXW+C6 Zakopané, Poľsko)
Inak v jednoduchosti ideš iba po námestí "Krupowki" úplne dole tam prejdete podchodom cez cestu a niekoľko metrov budú ešte trhy a už idete rovno k lanovke.
