Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good place to visit with friend, and family and mostly for movie lovers. I enjoyed it. Many options.

The cinematographic museum has a nice overview of the history of film. Take a look at the stereoscopic carrousel.
On the other floors one can find deeper views at the Polish film history.

An amazing unique museum I have ever visited. There are lots of original cinematic exibits beginning from very very old and finishing with modern devices of our times.
The figures of animation cartoons for adults and children, posters of the best Polish movies, oscars of differrent types and forms and one floor for children with old, but still actual Polish cartoons. The exibits for the King Size film outdoors will surprise you pleasantly. Enjoy!

Quite an interesting place to visit. I liked all the rooms, animation floor was very nice and rich in experiences. The only thing that I would be expecting is opportunity to buy a poster or some other souvenirs related to cinema production.

I really enjoy the idea of placing a muzeum of cinema into the Karl Wilhelm Scheibler's Palace. While learning about cinema history you can walk through the original palace rooms. The staff is really helpful and makes sure you are leaving a particular room with enough of knowledge. Especially about the Scheiblers family been up-to-date and trendy and a story of how actually a smoking coat got its’ name. 🚬

This museum is hosted in apalace of a former owner of one of the factories of Lodz, who had to demonstrate his wealth. The original and recovered rooms are impressive. The cinema content of the museum is weird. There are a lot of old machines for the cinema industry, an interesting wooden machine showing stereo images to a bunch of people at the same time, some big props in the garden, a kromaki system, and a lot of puppets used for stop motion takes. A lot of information is provided in Polish only.

I really enjoyed this museum! The bottom levels have old film equipment, which is really fun to look at, although the signage is all in Polish. There are also rooms to walk through in the old palace, which I didn't find that interesting, but if you like old rooms then you'll enjoy it. The upper levels are where it really gets interesting though - there's a miniature street, and on the top level is an exhibit on Polish animation. The exhibit on Polish animation is really cool, there's large displays of different styles and the signage on that level includes English translations. This museum would be interesting for kids (as long as they're old enough not to touch the exhibits). Very glad I visited.

Given Lodz’s place in the history of Polish film I was expecting a more dynamic display. The museum is a collection of rooms featuring old film making equipment and projectors that appear to have been placed in a random manner with no narative.

There is very very little attempt to translate the signage into other languages, even English. There are a couple of token translations but not enough to be informative. You mostly end up walking around looking at old film kit you know little about and there’s not a lot that’s interactive either.
Being in an old building it smelt dusty and dank throughout and made my nose itch.
The giant shoe and the miniature street are the best thing about this museum. Not even limited bits on the moomins kept us entertained
Unless you are a Polish speaking, Polish film history enthusiast give this a miss.
Very disappointing

I know - great history, many technical information, panoptikon and other intersting exhibitions. But I loved the meeting the Moomins and other characters from childrenhood: Bartolini Bartłomiej and Szpieg z Krainy Deszczowców, Zaczarowany Ołówek and other.
Maybe it's a bit confussing at the beginning especially when there is not many other guests with you but after few minutes everything goes ok.
Really worth of visit.
