After being leveled when the Nazis left, this whole neighborhood of cobblestone Gothic streets and alleyways, baroque palaces, numerous churches and tiered burghers' houses were masterfully reconstructed to reflect the atmosphere of bygone days.

Beautiful square in the Polish capital

Definitely worth wandering around - it has been beautifully restored and was very pretty on the sunny day we spent there.

Despite the title most of this area was restored rather than original. Still, it gives a solid picture of what Warsaw looked like before the war, complete with town wall. Some good restaurants and shopping - mostly souvenir. The restored church is worth a look.

Have seen a few old towns by now, maybe I didn't spend enough time now since it was a business trip but the city didn't catch my interest properly

The colorful Old Town with lovely cobblestone streets is a splendid place to visit and explore. For a lot of good reasons, it's one of the city's most prominent attractions. There are a lot of sights, restaurants, cafes, shops and more. The surrounding streets feature a fine medieval architecture. The city walls, the Barbican and the churches are really impressive.... Warsaw old town is a very small district packed with nice buildings, churches, museums, restaurants etc. Unlike in other places in Europe it's really really small so it would take less than a couple of hours to visit every corner. The market square is quite nice, so are the narrow paved streets to walk around and soak up the atmospere.

Old Town is not only a fine restoration it is pleasing to the eye and in very good condition. It is not only at "tourist area" but also a center for the national government. Political rallies and demonstratins often occur and are impressive if a little crowded. You will find that the prices are similar to Prague's Mala Strana and... More
